A museum with a warm and cozy atmosphere full of rich details of Alsatian country life over the last couple of centuries. None of the sterile and cold displays of modern museums here, visitor's explore the facility, winding up staircases, through creaking wooden corridors, along courtyard balconies, and poking in and out of secluded rooms of reconstructed displays full of origin pieces of daily life in pre-industrial Alsace.

Excellent musee

The audible museum guides, available without cost and in several language, including English, are well done and easy to use and are really essential to understanding the exhibits. A two or three hour visit for the visitor with a moderate interest in cultural history. Adult admission of 6,5€ makes a visit a real bargain.

Great museum of everyday items, furniture and interiors from the Alsace region. Took about one hour.

Warning: Constructed during the early part of the 20th century the facility is not friendly to those of limited mobility.

Fascinating tiny museum that is set in an genuine old Alsatian building which depicts the traditional lifestyles and household artefacts for Alsatian families over the last few centuries. Guidance in many languages and "human" guides to be found in several rooms. A really interesting visit. Highly recommended.

Museum to get the basic knowledge of the region of all aspects (Maison, cuisine, clothes, religion etc). Guide available in English and Chinese. It is actually much bigger than it seems like from the outside. It took me more than 2 hours to make a tour (didn't read everything). The presentation of objects and the visit order is a path to walk through the Maison too. Just a little annoyed by the chichating of museum protection staffs...

Very interesting museum! Happy I went as it is a great introduction to history and ethnographic past.
I am just sad the ladies behind the counter are to busy with their chit-chats and did not really bother to explain about the guide-booklets, though it would have been handy to use them and read about the objects exhibited. We found them only after the visit...they where still chit-chatting!

Lots of history and fachwerkhauser architecture. Visit christmas market at night and here during daytime. You'll come home appreciating your modern day appliance.
