Besides the manager did his best to handle the problem, as fast as he could, and offer me a half deposit for free to compensate the inconveniences experienced; This point out a massive lack of professionals from technical team to check the cars properly. The car was claiming about lack of pressures on the wheels and a lack of fluid of... well, I don't even know what kind of liquid, to be honest.... But the warnings were quite annoying, always stuck on the screen and bothered a lot the readability of others information.

Until now the experience is bad, and you can think it couldn't be worst, but amazing things happens. When I received my check in they made a mistake on the returned date and added a one day extra, excellent….

I hired a Mercedes C class cabriolet, Avis select series. The current model of the year.

Technical teams are completely inefficient and need to be managed in another way to get cars in enough descent state to the clients.

Francois was fantastic! Upgraded our car, took time to ask us about our holiday plans and recommended some nice places. Queue took a long time but excellent service

We tried to contact the agency but the phone line was wrong, after reading the reviews it seems it’s the case for age…. The Agency doesn’t care at all.

I have been calling the given telephone number all day to try to amend a booking. I get either a message in Russian that I dont understand, or a message in french which says that the service required is not available on this line. HELP !!!! I also tried calling AVIS direct on their main number but they said that the only number they had was the one given onlin

Final words, I'm really disappointed in Avis Marseille Office (That doesn't mean all Avis Offices are the same, I'd good experiences with another)

- Very long and inefficient pickup process
- Car in an unacceptable dirty state
- Astonished car problem
- Profound lack of professionalism from the technical team
- Wrong phone number, make impossible to contact the office
- Error on the returned date and extra cost added
- Wrong support email
- 15 days to correct the returned date

What do you do in this case? Call the agency, ha ha ha, well as we saw before we can’t take this option, then you tried to contact the support, easy stuff for a big company like that, no? Well NO… It's taken me 15 days more to got the refund.

The whole process to pickup should be revised and enhanced. It's absolutely not in the standards we can expect from Avis

Thirdly they said to me the car was revised and okay and the deposit was full. Okay, let's spend a bit more time about how was the car.

Error on the returned date and extra cost :

First off, I spent time on the Avis Website, to read all about the conditions and fill all the forms. They said the car was fully insured, and there's 6 000€ franchise. But said nothing about the extra cost to avoid franchise. I discovered the value when I went to pick up the car, it was an extra of 130€ by day when the price is 92€ by day...

Profound lack of professionalism from the technical team :
The car was not revised at all...

First of all, it was dirty, but not like they missed the last clean up, it was dirty like they never clean up at all!!!! The wheels were so profoundly dirt that you can't even hope to stop at a cleaning station and get a clean car... For this kind of car, it's unacceptable....

I've gotten a clean and new car. But i given it back with a low level of fuel. The refuel service was very expensive. You should refuel the car yourself before you give it back.
The staff speaks english so there is no problem if you don't speak french.

Last but not least, after few kilometres we felt cold, and the car was exceptionally noisy, after investigating we found there's miss an entire piece joining the both front and rear windows! We can pass a whole hand through! Wooow that's astonishing....

unfriendly at car return. car was ok, long waiting time at pick up. car had lot's of damages. to avoid discussions when you return, take fully comprehensive insurance.

Rented a car from Avis for one-way from Nice, FR to drop-off in Marseille the same day. Upon arrival in Marseille, it took me approximately 7 minutes to get the car turned in. I arrived with less than a full tank of gas but was not charged much at all for fuel and I had my receipt in my email inbox within 30 minutes of dropping off the car. Could not have been happier with the entire Avis experience!! Only negative is with Marseille Airport. I pretty much knew where I was going to drop-off the car, but there were no signs for the rental car parking lot (that I saw) until the one prior to entering the actual facility. Very poorly marked.

Secondly, they said deposit was full, and I need to return complete, but it was at half!? That's disappointing...

Then we went back to the office, it was raining cats and dogs, and it took 15 minutes to the staff to realise the problem. 15 minutes more to handle it and 25 minutes more to get a new car from the garage. Total time, more than 2h30 to leave Marseille Airport.

Secondly, they filled again all the information that I'd already supplied online, that doesn't make sense, and slow down a lot the pickup process. Indeed we were only six people in the queue, and I waited more than 40 minutes, that's just unacceptable in 2017 standards, on top of that for a competitive company like Avis.
