Incredible sculptures in a beautiful setting but our experience was spoiled by the lack of understanding from the attendant on the desk when we entered. My husband speaks little French, and, while I was out of earshot, he requested 2 entrants without access to the special exhibition. When I realised he had paid 20euros for a free museum we requested a reimbursement before we entered the museum. The attendant was ill mannered, arrogant and flatly refused. I asked for the manager, who she then spoke, telling only her version of events, so he refused to attend. We received no money back. We found the whole attitude unsympathetic and down right rude.

The Musée Bourdelle is an art museum located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. It is easily accesible by metro. The museum preserves the studio of sculptor Antoine Bourdelle and provides an example of Parisian ateliers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was Bourdelle's active studio from 1885-1929. I really enjoyed it!

Worthwhile introduction to the work of this lesser-known sculptor, who studied with Rodin and taught Giacometti. Nice combination of indoor and outdoor exhibition areas, with good explanations (in French only) of the complicated bronze-casting process. Free admission, except for temporary exhibitions.

Superb museum if you're an aspiring artist. Lots of material to draw from. Bourdelle was a very prolific artist, so you'll have loads of subjects here. Your mileage may vary depending on if you want to spend time analyzing the sculptures, but most of them are of very high quality. I was also astounded by the size of the statues in the side hall. Really recommend the visit!

A little gem in the heart of Montparnasse, away from the tourist hordes and well worth exploring, the fascinating mixture of sculpture and fashion will hold interest for everyone
