Back in the day I visited this beautiful maze in a castle. It was logical to cut all the hedges around to create a pretty maze like that. I can't forget how nice the early-morning was, when we could visit and spend time to look at every single thing in the Maze without being stuck in a crowd. It was a nice day and a nice memory about Château de Villandry.

If you love gardens or gardening, this Chateau is not to be missed. With a fascinating history, the chateau is lovely and interesting, but the gardens are the real draw. Recreated from research into the chateau's past, they are a combination of the French compulsion to control nature by shaping every tree, shrub and plant into topiaries, hedges and espaliers, and flowers, herbs and vegetable gardens that make it hard to resist leaping over the fences and harvesting gorgeous produce. Oh, to live here!

A beautiful castle with an incredibly well designed and maintained garden. Easy parking. Audio guide is recommended as it gives interesting insight into the rich history of the features and sites.

What a wonderful chateau. The gardens are amazing! A must visit when in the Loire valley.

The gardens are outstanding - perfect examples of formal French style with knot gardens and the use of vegetables and edible plants to form structured, highly attractive beds. There are shaded, vine-clad walks, woodland, views and vistas, a wonderful lake shaped like a mirror flanked by clipped box trees and a moat filled with gulping carp. The Château is interesting (filled with family treasures - the place is still privately owned).

Good place to visit on a sunny day. Specially if you are a fan of history.

This castle is mostly known for its gardens (for a good reason) but the interiors are also much more interesting than in other castles of the region.

One of the most stunning and beautiful chateau in the Loire Valley. It's gardens are amongst the most amazing in France. A definite must visit.

Fantastic gardens. The château itself is lovely but the gardens took most of my time, memory card space, and left the biggest impression. I don't think I saw their equal anywhere else in France.
