This is a must-visit chateau in the Loire. My wife and I spent a weekend at Le Rivau during the annual pumpkin festival. We were in France for 3 weeks, and Le Rivau was the HIGHLIGHT of the whole trip. We felt like kids again. Running through the maze, touring the castle interior, and letting our imaginations run wild. Our adult sensibilities were satisfied as well, as we took in the rich history and got the backstory on some of the beautiful commissioned artworks. It is a place that is both serious and playful. Young and old. The bonus was the restaurant. The salad was super fresh and flavorful. The cheese plate paired with the local Chinon cab franc was excellent. I can't wait to go back.

Beautiful castle and garden with fun activities and things to see. Makes for a fun day out.

Beautiful gardens with lots of activities! Went in summer which was great including jousting festival!

One of our favourite Loire Valley chateaux which we encourage visitors to the area to seek out,especially with small children, as they will be enchanted.
It is great for adults too with its jousting tournament in the middle of August perhaps the highlight. We love the fact that the owners have instilled a lighter,humorous side to their displays within the castle and its grounds.
