My sister and I had a fabulous trip cycling through Burgundy with Detours in France. The bikes were great, Florent gave us very detailed route maps and explanations, lots of extra information on sites and vineyards to visit. He was always quick to answer if we had questions. Great choice of hotels and restaurants. Cannot wait to do another trip with them!

Even better than the accommodations and planned events was the service that Detours provided. One of our couples arrived separately by train, and Sarah picked them up and delivered them to the villa. Not all wanted to walk the full hikes, and Sarah arranged for pickup half way through. When we asked for recommendations for dinner, she gave us recommendations and made reservations. First rate experience.

This fall we did a five day self guided walking trip in Alsace. Again, Detours provided detailed plans for the walks and arranged all necessary transportation. And again, Detours accommodated our desire for a custom trip - Sarah modified the regular six day trip to be five days of walking and arranged for pickups for those wanting shorter walks. The hotels we stayed in were great, and we had three meals provided, two of which were exceptional. Again, a first rate experience and we highly recommend Detours for a personally tailored trip to France.

Over the last several years, six of us (3 couples) have used Detours in France for two vacations. On our first, in Burgundy, we rented a villa outside Beaune for a week through Detours. With the villa we got plans for two hikes, complete with place to place written instructions accompanied by topographic route maps, bikes with suggested rides, a tour through the vineyards with a winery visit/tasting followed by a great lunch with wonderful food and wine, and finally a fabulous French cooking class.

Just the best! My wife and I did the Challenge ride in Burgundy this September, after doing the easier Provence ride in a group of six last year. Both trips featured excellent accommodations and meals at the lower price level we chose, On both trips we had clear and detailed directions (Sarah Bird writes them and is Canadian, so there is no clarity or translation issue for English speakers). We were directed to wonderful back roads through farmland and villages with minimal motor traffic nearby. Bikes and equipment were in top shape. Minor glitches were addressed quickly and the overall tenor of DIF was warm, welcoming and generous with time and assistance. We're already planning a third trip - Detours in France has our very highest recommendation and gratitude for creating such satisfying getaways. I wish I could give them six stars.

We love the trips that we have had with Detours in France.My sister and I are hard to please but Sarah has delivered the perfect trip every time.
She can customize to exactly what you ask for from the bikes(getting them just right),to the amount you bike with flexibility,to perfect locations to stay and help figuring best travel plans.We like independence biking and don't want a group so she provides detailed maps and instructions.She is quick to respond to emails and calls plus her back up crew are all excellent. This is a first class experience and not just feeling like another number.It is also more cost effective than some of the better known companies.We can't wait to plan another one.We loved Burgundy and Bordeaux - Ursula and Clare

My husband and I booked a bike tour in the Loire Valley with Detours to celebrate our 60th birthdays. The biking was just perfect--gorgeous weather, scenic routes, wonderful equipment, the breath-taking cheateaux and the support provided by Florent and Sarah. We also loved the two villages where we stayed--Blois and Amboise and enjoyed the hotels and restaurants that were selected for us. We definitely hope to take another bike trip with Detours.

The two of us did the Challenges biking tour in Burgundy and had an awesome time. All the luggage transfers went smoothly, the accommodations and hotels that were chosen were excellent, the directions were very clear and detailed, and the bikes were great. Florent was very helpful. I would highly recommend Detours in France and can't wait to do another trip with them.
