Really nice hostel, everything was clean and the owner, Patrick, was very helpful and spoke near perfect English. The cooking facilities we're good and there is a nice communal area to sit and chat. Matt hire is easy for climbers. The whole place is very relaxed and the price is very reasonable.
Would recommend for everyone who wants a hostel in the Fontainebleau area.

An excellent place to rest your head and tired arms after a day's climbing. Very friendly, nice camping, reasonable prices. This is the only place I stay when in the area.

We didn't stay here but reserved 2 mats over email weeks before we arrived in Font. When we arrived to pick them up, we learnt that they only had small mats left (they explained to us all the big mats were taken by people staying here).

This is one of the better hostels I've stayed in, a real climbers hostel. The Owner is very friendly and knows the area well. You can rent boulder pads, very close to the bouldering areas of Font. The communal area is well look after as well as the showers and toilets. 4 of us stayed in a 6 bed room which we had to ourselves with a ensuite shower and toilet room. Supermarket is just down the road to top it off. I'd highly recommend using this hostel if you are looking to climb in Font.

Please note: also camping open all year & breakfast not included.

The hostel staff was perfectly nice about it, and gave us a discount (5 euros each mat rather than 8 euros, which isn't that much considering these mats were really rubbish). But this is no way to do business. No credibility! Very disappointing...

I stayed at Fontainblhostel for a weekend of bouldering in Fontainebleau and I couldn't be happier with my time there. Patrick, the owner, was extremely helpful in providing directions for access to some of the nearest bouldering areas, providing a shuttle (for 5 euros), setting up a tent for me as I didn't have my own, and just being pleasant and helpful all around. If you are climbing in Font or looking for a place to stay in La Chapelle-la-Reine then you'd be doing yourself a favor by staying here.

We spend 6 nights at Fontaineblhostel with a small baby (2+ years). This is an excellent accommodation for climber's of all ages, very family friendly.

The mats were very thin, very small, very old, and one of them had broken straps so was difficult to carry. We didn't have any choice because it was Easter and many mat renting places had rented out all the mats (we contacted a few). Luckily we hired a big mat elsewhere later, but this could have ruined our holiday - these mats were really not very useful at all, you don't want to boulder using just them.

I stayed here as a solo female traveller last summer and I'm thinking about booking for my travels again this year!
The owner could not have been more helpful, he was on hand to provide local knowledge and provided a taxi service to get to various crags as well as boulder mat hire.
Someone has written a review about a small mat, I guess that I was lucky enough to hire out a large mat, it was plenty big enough for me!
The place was clean, the host friendly and attentive.
