We would recommend Cap de Boueou to anyone looking for a quiet rural location with no nuisances - very nice!

The house is at the end of a lane next door to a working farm, but as you turn in to the courtyard you are totally private, the house facing away from the lane. Apart from the odd visiting chicken or small friendly dog, you wouldn't know. On the other hand, should you need anything Marie-Helene is completely available in that lovely understated French way. We also had plenty of information about the house content & layout before we arrived, which was extremely useful.
The house is big, all the rooms a good size, very clean & well cared for, decorated with an eclectic mix of interesting items, but in no way cluttered. The kitchen was well equipped, and everything worked - even the igniters on the gas hob.
We enjoyed the long warm evenings sitting out in the open barn which is across the courtyard from the house. The little charcoal kettle barbecue was more fun than our gas bbq at home.
We had lunch out in Marciac - excellent duck salad!
Our flight back was from Marseille, so we had to leave just as the sun was rising - we were treated to beautiful mists clinging to the valleys.
We had 10 days of fantastic weather, while at home in Crete it was apparently quite cool and occasionally raining..

Cap de Boueou is the perfect way to step off the grid for awhile...though there is a wifi connection if you really must stay tuned in. The Mid-Pyrenees region is pristine and full of breathtaking settings, beautiful architecture, Gascony history, and amazing food. The house itself was perfect for us. It is very spacious with open layouts and great skylights in the bedrooms and baths that were easy to keep shaded if needed and also opened up for direct views and breezes of the countryside. We cooked great meals at the house, sat/ate outside, star-gazed, and were blown away by all the sounds and smells and sights of nature there.

I stayed at Cap de Boueou for approximately 2 weeks in early May. The weather was wonderful -- chilly nights gave us reason to use the great fireplace -- spacious bedrooms, well-equipped kitchen, lovely grounds. Short drive to fantastic restaurants, wineries, cheesemongers, and fois gras purveyors. We took many day trips and saw much of the countryside and surrounding cities and villages; drove out to the Pyrennes, which are visible from Troncens; hiked and ate ourselves silly. I cannot wait to go back. Speaking a bit of French will be of some benefit, but we made do with broken, barely-remembered French and the townspeople and neighbors were beyond kind and patient with us. Local sellers in daily markets were also gracious and willing to help us with purchases, dinner and wine ideas. Several very good restaurants within 10-15 minute drive (in Tillac, Marciac, and other spots). The scenery is peaceful and divine. I recommend having dinner at Chez Gorka in Tillac and then walking back to the house, past the lake (this took about an hour, and we stopped to visit with many animals along the way, including the magical horses just down the road). We cooked many meals at home and used the outdoor grill often. Shop at the daily local markets and supplement with items from the larger stores (there's a big SuperU very close by). We wanted for nothing and found all necesssary cooking/eating/drinking supplies provided, as well as laundry facilities. Showers and baths hot and hot water seemed in plentiful supply. A truly remarkable location and home. I encourage you to visit!
