This is more of a Gare de Nice problem than a Hertz problem, but the car return is in the main parkade, but there's no signage on the street to tell you this. You kind of have to guess. Then, drive up a narrow (NARROW!!) spiral 6 floors to the return deck. It's like they want you to damage the car.

Please don't even bother getting your car here.
1. No customer service and people are super rude to service you
2. The car park is terrible. It seems they want you to scratch your rental cars in order to get your money from the cars
3. They will try to upsell you insurance.
4. They over charge your credit card after you return the car after one-two weeks without giving you receipt
5. The telephone number on the website is literally useless. They will not pick up your phone for the whole day. Even they finally pick it up, they will find a reason to hang up your phone (e.g., "we have a lot of costumers today...") well... am I not a customer as well?

So Rude! I walked into this location to see if I could rent a car for 6 days. After waiting in line for a good 15 minutes I started to speak with the agent when an French man and his wife walked right up to the counter waiving their reservation ticket. Upon seeing this the agent told me she was going to help us both at the same time and before I knew it I was standing behind the man while she took another 10 minutes to get their already reserved car ready in the system. I don't know if it was just because I was American that I got pushed to the side, or if they treat everybody this way. Finally after she was done getting the man checked in, it took her a whole 60 seconds to inform me that the car was going to be about twice as much as it was online because she couldn't take the insurance option off. I've never been served with such apathy or incompetence at a car rental agency before. I've learned my lesson, book online and avoid the people element (and apparently get priority in line).

Hertz as a company is my preferred rental agency. I like their service and I like their cars.

Then you need to give the keys back. But there's no signage (again) to say where that's done. Turns out, you have to go to the bottom level and across the parkade into the Gare de Nice building to return the keys to the Hertz office.

Many people reported that the return location is hard to find. I've tried last week, so I would like to share with you the return location. Once you turn into Rue Gounod, you will see a basement car park entrance on you left. YES, this is the entrance of the 6-floor car park. Just go down and enter the car park, get a parking ticket (you don't need to pay this afterwards, so just get it), then follow the signage and drive up to 6/F (many car rental companies are located on 6/F). When you were on 6/F, find a parking lot with Hertz logo and park your car then it's done! After that, you will need to go down to the station and find hertz office inside the station and return the key. So if you don't wanna bring your luggage from 6/F to the station, you can offload before entering the car park. I hope this helps.

You should leave your car at a multilevel parking lot next to the train station (left side), then take elevator to the ground level and go to train station itself for checkout.

Rental car return at Gare de Nice-Ville.
If you look up in the map you may find the rental car office only but no location for returning car.
If you want to return the at Gare de Nice-Ville.
Here is the information; there is car park by the train station, there is the sign when you neter the car park, you should follow the signs nad drive up to the top floor (are for rental cars).
You should park the car in the area marked and take the lift to go graund level.
Exit the car park and walk to train station, at the enterence you may see the rental car office office and the box for car key in front.

Was a bit late to pick up my car, and to my surprise their desk was find closed for lunch from 13:00 till 14:00.
All other rental companies that share the same office (Avis, Sixt, Europcar) have enough staff to have lunches without closing their desks.

This location is a huge pain for returns, though. The return directions they give you are very vague: they told us to return the car at "Avenue Thierry", but didn't provide a building number or further instructions. If you're not from Nice or have never been there before and you need to program your GPS, this is very challenging.

Very friendly and helpful staff.
I scratched the car a little bit in a parking lot and they asked me to fill out a form for it, I had full insurance and it should be covered (let's wait and see).
I picked up the car at Avignon and dropped off at Nice, thanks for tips in other reviews I found the parking lot entrance with only a tiny hesitation. But the parking tower is a pain in the ass with super narrow path rotating up to the top floor and found only one spot left for Hertz which need some skill to park.
