Built in 1923 - this hotel is largely unchanged except that the ensuite facilities are all pretty well new and very pleasant. If you are used to French hotel showers, you will be very pleasantly surprised. None of the usual crouching down in a bath struggling to maintain temperature and avoid getting the water on to the floor. These showers are very comfortable, good pressure and easy temperature regulation. Very welcome on a seaside holiday.
The Hostellerie du Bois is run by a charming French and Italian couple who have a huge experience in this industry having been involved in the hotel industry around the world for many years. They have been running this one for 12 years and their professionalism shows very clearly.
The hotel is absolutely spic and span. It is on a very minor main road and is very quiet. It is less than 2 minutes from a railway station whcih can take you to Nantes or which can also take you to various destinations along the very sprawling La Baule seaside resort.
Just three minutes down the road is a small market on (I think) Tuesdays and Saturday" which offers very nice looking vegetables, fish and Oysters at very cheap prices.
There is free wifi, although the signal is a bit iffy in a couple of the rooms. TV in every room.
There is a restaurant but you have to book for the evening meal - fair enough. However, you also have to book the day before if you are going to have breakfast there. That is a bit odd to me - after all you aren't talking about a full English cooked breakfast, here. How much notice do you need to rustle up the bread, croissants and some coffee that passes for breakfast in France? Of course there are places to have breakfast very close by - but it does mean that if you want breakfast in the hotel then you have to plan ahead, and if you wake up in the morning and you don't feel well or it's raining - then tough. Either you will have to go out or do without. I suppose they have their reasons but it's a bit rum.
If you want a good reliable modest hotel in this attractive seaside resort - with magnificent beaches, then the Hostellerie du Bois won't disappoint you.

Joli petit hôtel avec déco originale. Les chambres sont impeccables, toutes très mignonnes car je suis resté dans deux différentes. Les propriétaires sont charmants et vraiment à l’écoute. La situation géographique aussi parfaite car à 2 pas des restos et de la plage ainsi que le train. Séjour très agréable.

Endroit un peu vieillot mais chaleureux. Très bon accueil. Bonne nuit et bon petit déjeuner.

Établissement très agréable, propriétaires sympathiques, cadre idyllique et chambres mignonnes pour un prix tout à fait abordable. À recommander vivement !

Si vous réservez via Booking, l'accueil sera mitigé et vous n'accéderez à votre chambre qu'à partir de 15H au lieu de 14H en réservation directe. Hôtel vieillot, mais les chambres sont correctes. Proche de la plage (10 mns à pieds) et des commerces.
