Back to the hotel, it was perfectly placed and beautiful inside with its 12 ft ceilings, wide staircases, ornate breakfast room and sitting areas. Remember the building is hundreds of years old so no elevator. The Suite was on the second floor (which with the 12ft ceiling equates to 4 floors of stairs to climb) the room is worth it. You open the door into a well appointed living area with double door opening onto a covered patio that over looks a tiny courtyard. It was lovely to sit out there with a glass of wine and listen to the church bells peel.

Great place, friendly staff. Obviously due to space constraints & architectural age of the building you can't expect 5 stars & a pool. We were more than happy with it & its very central.

Cannot beat the convenient location of the hotel

The room exceeded all expectations and made the 5 star hotel in Paris we had just left look like a cheap motel.

Check out was uncomplicated and quick and the value for dollar was far and away there in spades. As you can likely tell I am a fan and would return to the hotel and Arles with hesitation. I would not even look to see if there was a less expensive option for I can't imagine finding somewhere better.

My compliments to the team that run the hotel and my thanks for a great experience.

Down a short hall was the bedroom, simple and nice, with an attached bathroom almost as large as the bedroom. Decorated in tile this was a well appointed 4 piece bath with double sinks, shower, sepeate 6ft bath and a sperate W/C..

Staff friendly. Savoury breakfast was great. Have stayed in the hotel 4 times before. This time was not in one of the main rooms. This part seemed less cared for. Chipped paint in dark brown corridors. Room was quite small. No bath. Poor sound insulation. Could hear people taking in other rooms. Doors slammed etc. Would stay here again but not in this part of the hotel.

Area very lonely, hardly no people in the street.
Difficult to reach by car, restricted streets to traffic.
Breakfast with very limited choices.
Staff extremely nice and helpful, willing to assist.-

Our stay at Hotel de l'Amphitheatre was highlighted by the helpfulness
of the staff there, with special mention of front desk personnel, and
specifically Dennis who helped us on a number of occasions.
This is important for foreign travelers, who are trying to 'find their way'
in a city that is new to them.
The hotel is very well located for sightseeing and restaurants and has
nice public spaces and breakfast areas (both inside and outside patio
in good weather).
Our only minor quibble would be that the room we stayed in could probably use a new coat of paint to freshen it up a bit. It was quite
spotless and well taken care of by the house staff.
The breakfast offered can be of simple continental style or a more
extensive one including more items. For us, the important thing in
the morning is good coffee and they even offer two choices of that
and both are of high quality.
Overall a good stay here, highlighted by good customer service by Dennis and the staff.

Each day a petit déjeuner is offered, savoury or sweet, it's very reasonably priced and a great way to start the day. The serving staff very lovely and everything delivered quickly and with a smile.

A very nice hotel in the center of the old town. We had a comfortable, spacious room with a nice bathroom. It was a pleasant experience.

Sadly we only planned for three nights in Arles at the Hôtel de l'Amphithéâtre. We booked The Suite and have not one regret except three days was too few. The hotel was great, literally only metres from the ancient Amphithéâtre which sits on top of the hill in old Arles. It took a few wrong turns as we got used to our first stop in the quaint, narrow streets of a town that dates back to 100 BC. Don't expect huge signs with arrows "your hotel is here" it's subtle.
Once we found it, check in was a breeze. The people working there were great. I felt bad because our French was atrocious as compared to all the staffs use of English. By our next visit to France I will better learn the language if only out of respect for the people here.

Hotel is very centrally located, right next to the Amphitheater with many nice cafes and restaurants nearby. Check-in was effortless, room was clean, and hotel lobby was very chic. Overall, great experience. Note, if driving, parking is extra at a nearby garage, but not a far walk.

Merci beaucoup

Such a good find. From the greeting to our departure, the hosts were helpful, courteous and informative - which was a great introduction to our time in Provence. Returning to the hotel after days of exploration (and eating) was met by soft classical music playing in the background - definitely a nice touch. Comfy bed, warm/hot shower and no car or traffic noise was really good. We had breakfast there too a number of times which for us proved a good start to our days. Thanks.
