Five friends and I stayed here on a Loire Valley biking trip. The hotel is beautifully maintained with large, elegant rooms and updated marble bathrooms. The proprietor was so kind and helpful carrying many of our suitcase up the staircases. We had one of our best Loire Valley meals in the courtyard of this lovely hotel. Grand Monarque is definitely one of many good reasons to return to Azay-le-Rideau.

A well placed hotel in the very centre of Azay a short stroll from the château. Large comfortable room, staff extremely pleasant and very welcoming. There was no problem with us bringing our dog and all of the staff were lovely to him. Easy secure parking across the road. The hotel manager gave us a great recommendation for a restaurant for dinner (even though the hotel has its own restaurant). Breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the buffet was constantly replenished. Highly recommend Le Grand Monarque.

Fantastic stay again, we returned to visit Azay and the hotel after 2 years and enjoyed a great Chateau discovery weekend, Eric and the team are very welcoming and helpful. Lovely 3 course dinner and good selection of wines. Thanks for a nice stay. Will be recommending to all our friends

Fabulous hotel, great location. Clean, spacious and comfortable room.
Staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating.

Very nice and spacious rooms in a nicely renovated 18th-century building. Restaurant is great, too (although the waiter did not talk English)

Perfect location for biking all over the Loire Valley. Hotel even has onsite locked storage for bikes and biking gear.

Lovely hotel, clean and comfortable room, loads of character. Central location, great for access to the town's restaurants and the Chateau. Friendly and helpful staff.

The accommodation is very nice, comfortable, very clean. The staff at the hotel on reception are very nice and speak English. The room is cleaned every day and is spotless on our return with clean towels every day. The reception staff will also advise on places to eat and visit. The only thing that let the hotel down was the meal we ate in the restaurant this evening. After ordering the waitress came to the table and in fact every table to inform us that there was no potatoes to pit with the meal. At the end of our meal my wife and I definitely said that the meal was not worth the money we paid. If the cook in the kitchen is calling himself a chef he is misrepresenting the word.

We had a wonderful experience staying at Hôtel Le Grand Monarque. The room was comfortable, cool, and quiet. The staff was very helpful and personable. No questions were asked when we wanted to store some of our wine in the fridge or request silverware for a picnic.

Very nice rooms and friendly staff with good english. The food choices are limited and the breakfast is quite poor.
