My wife and I travel through Europe quite a bit and love to stay in nice hotels. We do a lot of research before traveling, so a lot of the problems that others had with this hotel were not a problem or surprise for us. For example, this hotel is basically the lower end section of the Hotel du Chateau across the street, but you have access to all the same amenities (pool, hot tub, spa, etc), so if you want a less expensive room, it works. It's literally a few steps from the entrance to the walled city, so the location is fantastic. The staff was very nice and helpful, it was quite charming.

Fantastic location with super staff, facilities and wonderful breakfast

The room was very clean and nice and the staff could not have been more helpful. The location was very convenient for a visit with a small child. The only thing that was difficult is the fact the it is impossible to make the room dark at night. With only translucent curtains over the large door/window, the room was light very early and it was difficult to sleep (especially for a child). Also, the room was a bit warm and it was not possible to control the heat.

Great location. Nice pool. Friendly staff

A lovely hotel in a superb location with a wonderful view of the Citadel from our room balcony. We had drinks at the sister hotel across the road where our car was parked and where the swimming pool is located. Very easy to walk up a few steps and you are outside Carcassonne walls.
The WiFi kept going off and you always had to log back on. Elliot the Basset Hound is delightful.

However, there are a few things where I hope you will take my feedback constructively.

Lovely hotel - room quite small but had everything we needed. The bar shared with hotel du chateau was lovely and such a lovely family (and dog!) that run it. Would definitely go back.

One word: disappointed
The hotel share a reception desk for the 4 stars twin hotel next to it. They didn't have enough rooms for 6 at the chateau so we went to the "big" room at the 3 stars (Montmorency). It should be a 1 1/2 at best. This transformed little house (rm 60) has ONLY 1 SINK! 2 toilets and 1 shower. The lower level has 1 toilet with no sink and a couch. Going up the most dangerous stairs in history, you reach the 2nd floor with 4 bedrooms, sharing the 1 toilet and shower, and there's a cottage over the 4th bedroom. There is no A/C, it gets hot as hell.
No toiletries other than shampoo/soap. The food at the bar is all from a can (glass jar) nothing fresh.
Breakfast is very limited, no fresh juices and they will give you one basket of bread per table. Definitely NOT WORTH the price.

Dear Montmorency,

Otherwise: the stay was very enjoyable, the breakfast was good, and the surroundings are beautiful.

We had an overnight in Carcassonne during our 30 day road trip in France. The hotel is nice, perfectly located and secured garage which we were pleased with. Off all the hotels that we had stayed during our trip, your receptionist has been the rudest, impolite without any care or concern towards us, your clients. We are easygoing and normally will not complain or write bad reports, but this time, this young lady crossed the line and pushed all my buttons.
The room was very nice and loved the little patio and garden. The hair dryer did not work and the lock to the patio did not work either which I did not feel comfortable since we had valuables. We had to barricade the door with our suitcases and the bed. Yes, this is something that the hotel should have taken care off but, like I have mentioned above, your receptionist was of no help at all. Your hotel is not one of the most expensive ones but it is not the cheapest either. Regardless of price, this issues should have been taken care off.

We enjoyed our holiday and for the most part were happy with the location, service, food, rooms, etc.

Secondly: on the first day we arrived late and asked about the pool; the woman working at the restaurant said that you could open it right away if we were interested. When we asked the next day in 28 degree weather, another woman said she didn't know if we could use the pool and would have to ask. I understand that keeping the pool covered keeps it clean, but on a hot summer day, it shouldn't be an issue to use a pool.

Very close to La Cité medievale. Room quiet and comfortable. Extremely nice design. Excellent reception. Nice swimming pool but not as warm as it was said.

Firstly, we had to call reception to come and change our sheets when we noticed that there was dog hair all over the sheets. A man working reception came straight away, but this should never happen. This is why I score the bed / cleanliness low.

Thirdly: I might have missed it on the spa website, but I did not know I should bring my bathing suit with me for my treatment. I ran back to the hotel room to pick it up, but it could save a guest a bit of time to write this (again, perhaps I overlooked this detail).

Thank you for your interest in my feedback.
