The service was friendly and uniformed. The staff helped us with some recommendations. The food was average to good. The seafood tasted alright but has room for improvement. Would not recommend the sea bream or red mullet. The zucchini flower appetizer was alright but could have been better if not over fried in large amounts of batter.

Food is mediocre, several wrong orders arrived, condescending when I asked for herbal tea (and got black as they claim that black is also caffeine free). Won't get far with English here (and I'm German, ok). At least they didn't charge for the wrong tea nor wine. The owner was very pleasant.

Worst food ever. Tastes like petroleum. After we told the waiter politely, they got offended and proceeded to bring out food with the same petroleum taste.

Excellent food. Menu is in French, staff speaks French. If yours (French) is not up to par they will give you infinite time 'til you figure it out. Pleasant surprise on my flight from Nice to Copenhagen, flipping through a magazine to find an article on Cuisine Nicoise. Who are they interviewing? The owner of L'Escalinada! Considered to be of great authority on authentic Nicoise cuisine. He is also a gracious host in his restaurant.

Honestly, don't bother with this place. We have had several great meals in the last week in Nice and this one falls flat and inedible. After a first few bites that tasted like a defrosted McCains pizza that was watery and some tasteless carpaccio that lacked any seasoning, we flagged the staff and asked for the bill and a cork for the wine. The staff where run off there feet. The food was not good. Save yourself the hassel.

Staffs are very friendly, a bit too friendly. Had a good sicilian pizza, if you are into that. Good clean and tasty fish. Had some trouble with the check but was cleared right away.

Lovely restaurant deep in old town. Proper French cooking and beautiful food. Food prices are quite expensive but youre in a main tourism area so it's to be expected

NOT recommended!!! Tourist trap! They attract tourists by writing "Specialities" but in reality we got tasteless food apparently "ready made frozen" food. We could not eat that and had to pay 61 euro for both for absolutely tasteless lunch set.
Pity we didn't read feedbacks before!

If your looking for authentic Nice food this is the place. Great service however a bit pricey for the portions you get.
