For English speaking visitors, think twice before eating at the Dakkar restaurant in Bayeux. Horrible service for even those who understand the etiquette of service in France. It us different and I enjoy the difference. But, when the service is blatantly rude, avoid. walk away.

They must've had an off night. Beef bourguignon had burned pieces, and my steak was almost too tough to cut. Service was ok, but they were busy.

Excellent menu for 19 euros, fairly small but tasty dishes. Serve a great cider and calvados from a nearby organic farm. Cosy place. Friendly staff

Hier, le 2 juillet 2017, après une longue ballade aux plages de Jour J, on se trouvait à Bayeux. Ayant faim, on a cherché un resto. Au Dakkar, même avant de demander s'il y avait de la place, une jeune serveuse nous a informés qu'on ne servait que la salade et la pizza. Installés à une table, elle a jeté le couvert et les cartes sur la table. Peu après, des Français se sont installés derrière nous. Service geniale......grande différence. Alors on est partis manger ailleurs. En rentrent, on est passés par la table des Français. Quelle surprise......les moules sont considérées comment salade (ou pizza) pour les Français. Ou peut-être ils en ont marre des Américains qui viennent pour vénerer la sacrifice des membres de leurs familles comme celle de mon père qui avait débarqué le 6 juin 1944.
Et moi, je parle français et je comprends bien l'etiquette dans un resto français.

1. They said okay, no mushroom sauce on my duck. Then bought it out fully with sauce. I'm highly allergic, not fussy... Told them to take it back
2. My son's steak was medium quality cut, no salt/pepper on it, nothing.
He finished his steak and i said we'd like to pay. I acknowledget that i will go without dinner. They said no and rushed (in 5-8 mins) out my overcooked, unedibly dry and no seasoning duck with half raw french fries. I said i don't want it by now and we want to go. Had to wait another 15! mins for the bill. And after another 16 minutes i walked over to the bar to pay as noone came over, even though they had time! Service is horrible and i'm infuriated that i had to pay for the duck and still had no dinner! Clearly their mistake, they should have just sucked it up....
