Other reviews are mainly by families & I can see the attraction but for us as a couple, it was just the perfect antedote to the stresses of daily work life. A definite return to Les Hiboux on the cards.

These selfcatering gites are excellent - spacious and with all mod cons. The grounds are large, with a pond and sheep, and football, boules and a swimming pool. The barns have a variety of games to keep children of all ages occupied. A delightful rural location means that there are plenty of walks/bike rides nearby, but not too far away from the bigger cities like La Rochelle, Poitiers and Cognac, with their visitor attractions. A lovely family holiday site!

Le Noisetier was perfect - spotlessly clean, very spacious, nicely decorated & equipped with everything one would need & more. The amenities were excellent - free access to bikes, big swimming pool, walking & biking routes, fantastic information ‘bible’, boules pitch (lesson courtesy of Tim & Ellen complete with vino!), friendly sheep & a great garden.

Visited Les Hiboux this summer with the family. What a fantastic time we had in mid France ! The rent we paid was very reasonable, but the facilities were outstanding ! The kids kept themselves occupied by the pool, but there was also a trampoline, table tennis, snooker and darts to keep them amused. The three gites next to the main farmhouse, all in one complex, meant that all of the family could share in this fun holiday in France, but also have their own independence if needed. We all had a great time, and will be looking to book up " Les Hiboux Holiday Cottages in France again !

We have been to Les Hiboux for many family holidays and have always had a fantastic time. The children love the pool and the space to roam free and play in safety. We love the peacefulness and the time to relax and explore. The gites are really well equipped, very comfortable and spacious. Tim and El are great hosts and help to make the holiday extra special. We will be back!

We have just returned from a delightful week at Les Hiboux gites. Rural location but there was still loads to do for the children. Games rooms, bikes of all sizes to use out on the quiet country roads, football posts and a trampoline which is fantastically sunken into the ground. The cottage we stayed in was well kitted out and very easy for a self-catering holiday. Dishwasher and washing machine made it like home from home.
Tim and Ellen were very helpful in their suggestions for nearby places to visit, such as Futuroscope, local markets and the chap with the wine in Chef Boutonne.
The weather was great and we hope to return when the pool has warmed up!
Thoroughly recommended.

Lovely secluded setting in rural France. Let the children run wild in safety, enjoy great food (self catering) and experience some tranquility. Highly recommended.

If you need a complete break from daily life & just want to kick back & recharge this is the place. We actually felt we had a 2 week holiday even though we visited places of interest, local markets & got out & about on the bikes & our feet. Imagine cycling on country roads where you rarely meet traffic & several small villages are easily accessible within a couple of miles.

Just back from Les Hiboux & what a fabulous week courtesy of exceptional hosts, Ellen & Tim. Our late arrival was facilitated with no hassle & the fridge was very kindly stocked with wine, juice & milk. The following morning, there were 2 freshly baked croissants in a bag hanging off the front door handle. It was all these little but ‘big’ courtesies that makes real service such a pleasure to receive.
