The situation is unbeatable.

Having eaten well in the sister (brother?) restaurant Vigatane in the village, we thought this would be worth a try.

I wouldn't recommend it for the food - Vigatane was better food and better prices.

It didn't work too well; the fish was rubbery, and didn't go with the wine sauce which seemed to have been made from a base of a meat jus or stock. Pity. But it was at least interesting. Trying too hard to be interesting, perhaps, without putting real care into it.

As was the bill. Pretty pricey overall for what you got.

It is worth coming here just for that.

It is on a promontory, with huge windows. So whether you sit inside with the air-conditioning, or outside with the sea breeze (you won't sit outside when the Tramontane wind is whistling at 75 kph), the view is breathtaking. On one side you have the marina, with an assortment of modern and traditional Catalan craft. On the other, the beautiful beach of Canet stretching away into the distance, with the Pyrenees as the backdrop.

The food was rather mundane. Nothing actually wrong with it, just a bit ordinary rather than cared for.

But the position was, as I said, unbeatable.

The position is fabulous, the food not bad, but pricey.

The crevettes rouges as a starter (24€ I seem to remember - you are paying for the view), were good. Obviously frozen, but well cooked and served. My main course was interesting on the menu: Monkfish Rossini. Just like a steak Rossini: on a piece of fried bread, topped with an escalope of fresh foie-gras, and in a Banyuls wine sauce. I could have chosen blue-cooked Tuna served the same way too.
