A very interesting, inspiring museum devoted to a single artist. The house itself is of interest - the upper floors devoted to the studio space are well-lit and magnificent, but the lower floors are darker and art is not well-lit.

Gustav Moreau is one of my favorite artists. When I went there I was able to leaf through the amazing volumes of hand drawn art as well as the building itself , a monument of beauty. It took a few days to see everything and the enormous painting that is being shown. I wish to someday return to this museum. it is truly my favorite.

A small museum. If you like Moreau you will love it, if not it is still interesting to see the inside of the building.

So famous in his day and you an now see his house and upstairs studios. The subject to his paintings are often dark but fascinating.

If you like Moreau than this museum is a must. Also worth a look if you just like paintings but want something different than the big and crowded museums in the city.

Reasonable entry, fantastic display upstairs of semi-finished works. So quiet on a Saturday too!

One of my favorite little museums in the world. I happen to like Moreau very much, but the museum is also a snapshot of a Parisian apartment of a certain time, and I find the studios on the top floors to be inspiring. They are flooded with art and light and for whatever reason being in this space makes me want to do something creative, too.

There are so many paintings to look at and many translated explanatory notes are available including English and Japanese. I spent good two hours reading through and look at all the paintings.

Very worth visiting. The artwork is amazing!

Gustave Moreau is not for everyone, but if you even just like him, you should visit this museum. It's also interesting because it's the actually atelier where he worked, so you get a real sense of 19th century artistic life - but not la vie bohème. Start at the top of the museum where the most interesting work is and which is also the most interesting space. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to see the museum; the guards and other employees are absolute dragons and kicked us out 15 minutes before the stated closing time.

Gustave Moreau was a major figure in French Symbolist painting whose main emphasis was the illustration of biblical and mythological figures. As a painter, Moreau appealed to the imaginations of some Symbolist writers and artists.
