On the 40th anniversary of Picasso's death don't waste your time going to the Reattu to see the 'permanent' Picasso collection. It's not there!

Not my thing but modern art types will like it. They pipe in sounds in various rooms which I suppose is in keeping with the modern art aspect of the place. Still it has a nice courtyard.

The Christian La Croix show at the Musee Reattu was initially exciting for my wife, a printmaker and college teacher. The show creatively mixes La Croix's wide-ranging works juxtaposed with classical and modern art. Each new room had different themes and arrangements.
Of course photography was not allowed. But when my wife pulled out her sketch-book (every artist's continual companion for ideas and thoughts) a guard strictly forbade her to do any sketching, note-taking, or comment making, even though it was with a pencil.
The sort of environment should discourage any teacher from recommending to his/her students to visit. Look but don't reflect!

I like it. With Arles Pass it is for free. Good mix between Modern Art and Rennaissance. Very interesting photo exhibition, there are even photos from NASA's Apollo 12 mission.

And great collection of Picasso drawings...

Not a very large museum that unites contemporary and classical art. I think it was created by the Knights of Maltа
