My husband and I are both American physicians and we were directed to this hospital by another hospital as our 12 year old daughter had bilateral pneumonia and sepsis while on vacation. It took over 4 hours in the ER before they even started antibiotics (the US standard for sepsis is 1 hour!). The doctor was rude and uncommunicative despite my husband being fluent in French. Clearly they're not influenced by patient satisfaction surveys! My daughter was there for 4 days and not once was she offered an interpreter so she could communicate with her doctors/nurses in English - again, this is routine in the US. Her antibiotics were give in a bag with her name handwritten - the drug wasn't even written on it. They must have medication errors. Her ER nurse inserted her IV without gloves and used no contact precautions for her cough. Totally irresponsible. They don't provide hospital gowns or even facial tissue (think about that one- most of the kids have runny noses!). If you're American, you'll be appalled and wonder how your child survived.

Happy to answer more detailed questions via DM for anyone considering this place!

Professor Ville and his staff were professional throughout (the entire 9 months, but especially during our stay) and the care was top notch. The French like to keep new mothers a little longer than in North America, so we stayed for 5 days, 4 nights, despite what was a rather routine process. They keep a close eye on the baby as the sage-femmes and nurses come on a regular basis to ask questions (eg, they record how often he is being fed and when), check on the baby (eg, weigh him, check for jaundice, etc ..) and show us a few things (ie, how to give baby a bath, or change his diapers). Most everyone spoke some English, and in any event you could get by on pretty bad French (as ours was).

My wife gave birth to our baby boy here. The hospital has a great reputation - the first pediatric hospital in the world, and they invented the stethoscope here too. No big deal.

Excellent, very fast attendance and very efficient!

Berthillon Glacier can be found in restaurants all around Paris, but you'll pay much more, sometimes double, and you'll get smaller portions, if you can believe it.

There is only a maternity and pediatrics ER here. For Adults, go to Hospital Cochin.

Visited Emergency Room with a 7yo while on a trip to Paris. In and out in 30min with a straightforward illness. Very refreshing after expected hours in ED in US. Everyone was very helpful and accommodated to our deficiencies in French communication. Thank you!

Undoubtedly the best ice cream in all of France, and perhaps the entire EU. However, the lines at 31, rue St. Louis can get very long during the summer months. I recommend waiting, it's definitely worth the wait.

I'm not one to queue up for anything - but this is an experience I recommend not missing.
