Besides the beautiful royal palace the city is worth to visit. The nearby streets are packed with beautiful historic palaces and villas. It is beyond amazing

Well worth a visit. So much to see, especially relating to Napoleon. Lots of walking involved so be prepared.

Nice tour, although a bit short. The palace is really beautiful and the gardens are nice, they can lead you into the forest for a longer walk.

We loved it. Beautiful palace and garden which we had essentially to ourselves. We danced in the ballroom like beauty and the beast.

I love the garden. Don't bother taking a tour of the interior not worth it.

It's the biggest attraction in town, this castle used to be French monarchs' summer residence, it's just next to Compiègne forest.

An overlooked place full of history. No crowd. Beautiful setting. Quite romantic. The upscale café unfortunately refused to serve lunch after 14.00.

Beautiful palace and the gardens are nice for a long walk :) the restaurant is lovely for a bite to eat

You can explore the garden for free, but it isn't very impressive (it's all relative of course) but great for a casual stroll. Inside there are some classic exhibitions, mainly ancient paintings.
