1. Pedals were loose. Safety issue.
2. Back wheel was unbalanced.
3. Back tire was too old & needed replacing.
4. Gear cable was missing parts at the end attached to the derailleur.
5. Shifter was loose and would move up and down, thus arbitrarily shifting the gears and wouldn't stay in lowest gear (for going up hills).
6. Derailleur was not in line with gears when in highest and lowest gear.
7. A screw keeping one side of the back fender attached to the bike frame near the gears was missing and should have been so incredibly obvious to anyone being paid €53 to inspect a bicycle.
8. Brake cables needed tightening and adjusting to fully brake. Huge safety issue.
9. Bell needed adjusting to be useful. Safety concern. Parisians do not look both ways (they hardly look one way) when crossing streets and especially into bike lanes next to sidewalks.

I noticed right away after the 'revision', that my gears would not cycle all the way through —to keep my bike in the lowest gear I had to hold my shifter down (old bike, 1 shifter for the gears) otherwise the shifter would slip up and would change to a higher gear. Also, the brakes were loose, I couldn't brake forcefully, I couldn't brake all the way. Very dangerous. I didn't want to keep going back to a bike shop I had no faith in, I didn't want to keep asking for them to fix things they should have already for no extra money. So, I looked up and went to a community bike shop: Vélorution located at 37 Boulevard Bourdon, Paris 4e. It cost only €10 (more like a donation) to become a member for a year & in that year you can build up to 1 full bicycle with their parts for no additional cost. Frickin amazing. With a place like this you need to put time and effort into fixing your bike. It's a community where people give their time and expertise and help you fix your own bike. You get to learn about your bike and meet some great people in the process. Everyone is really cool, really helpful, and can accommodate people that speak English. So, at Vélorution when I was being helped with my bike I found out and noticed so many wrong things with my bike that Paris Vert should have seen the first time and definitely the 2nd time at least in regard to my gears since they put on a new chain the 2nd time around.

Très disponibles et pédagogues dans leurs explications au client. De loin l’adresse la plus sympathique essayée à Paris. Seul bémol : la boutique est très fréquentée et il faut un peu patienter parfois.

I'm sure I'm missing a thing or two, but you get the idea. The Paris Vert guy replaced 2 tire tubes (really cheap things) for €53 and it seems like he just looked at the bicycle from across the shop and called it a 'revision'. I'd suggest going to another bike shop and you'll probably get a better price as well.

excellent service alors que je ne suis même pas client. j'avais simplement besoin d'un gros carton à pour transporter mon vélo par avion.
En plus de mon donner un gratuitement le carton ainsi que des fournitures d'emballage le patron m'a donné plein de conseils et d'astuces pour optimiser l'emballage du vélo et limiter la casse dans le transport.

I borrowed my Airbnb hostess's bicycle, we took it to Paris Vert to get a complete revision and fix anything necessary as she hadn't used the bike in a while. Both times I went the 2 guys seemed fairly nice as people. Unfortunately I'm not quite sure what they did with the bike besides putting in 2 new tire tubes and taking our €53 —tubes are really cheap and with labor, it does not come close to €53. One of the first things I notice go wrong was when I bought a bell (€7) for the bike (super helpful in Paris) and the guy installed it for me, but without any care. The bell was installed in a way where the lever got caught on the handlebar. Thoughtless, careless. So, about a week later my chain broke, which may have been coincidence, but I think that if they had worked on the gears and derailleur like they should have, this would not have occurred. I took the bike back to Paris Vert expecting them to fix the chain —it's a really simple fix— but they don't fix chains (?). So, I had to buy a new chain for €15 and I talked him out of making me pay €10 for labor as we'd already paid so much for I'm not sure what.

Je circule à vélo dans Paris depuis 20 ans et j'ai fait pas mal de boutiques de réparation. Ici le travail est sérieux, et super compétent, et les gens sympa. Les prix sont très corrects pour le service rendu. Ils s'y connaissent très bien en vélos hollandais . Le seul bémol c'est qu'ils ont beaucoup de demandes et qu'ils ne peuvent parfois pas prendre immédiatement la réparation. Mais ça vaut le coup d'attendre un peu.

Je comptais donner un bon avis jusqu'à ce que je me rendes compte que mon vélo était abîmé depuis la réparation. Je le fais remarquer au moment de payer, mais au lieu de s'excuser, le tenancier se méfie de moi, ne veut pas me croire, fini par m'accorder un rabais de 10€ en se moquant de ma demande et en me demandant de ne plus remettre les pieds dans sa boutique... Drôle de façon de fidéliser sa clientèle.

Ma soeur et moi sommes entrés dans cette boutique en fin d'après-midi car le dérailleur arrière de son vélo était complètement cassé et l'empêchait de pédaler. Comme elle habite à Montreuil, une réparation rapide nous aurait vraiment dépanné. M'y connaissant très bien en mécanique vélo, je demande au gérant s'il peut rapidement nous enlever le dérailleur et nous raccourcir la chaîne afin de transformer temporairement le vélo en single-speed (monovitesse) histoire que ma soeur puisse juste pédaler. Cette opération prend 5 minutes. Il a refusé, visiblement excédé que je considère ça comme rapide, arguant qu'il avait trop à faire et nous laissant dans la merde ma soeur et moi. Nous sommes allés voir un autre petit réparateur très sympa rue du Mont Cenis installé dans une sorte de salon d'appartement aménagé en atelier. Il nous a dépannés gratuitement (je l'ai tout de même payé par reconnaissance) et la réparation a duré...5 minutes. Bref, pour les gens en galère, passez votre chemin.
