Beautiful little war cemetery situated in a small quarry. The late Queen Mother's brother, Captain Fergus Bowes-Lyon, is one of the burials here, being registered as missing for many years. There are also a good number of dismounted cavalrymen buried here.

This quarry was immediately behind the British front lines during the Battle of Loos in 1915. It was directly opposite the Hohenzollern Redoubt, a formidable German strongpoint. British forces used poison gas for the first time, although many British troops were gassed themselves. The attack was initially successful, but strong German counter attacks soon pushed the British back to their original lines.
