I fly about 50x per year across Europe. So I have some experiences with airports. Grenoble Airport is by far the worst airport I have ever been. Badly organized, very unfriendly staff, non-heated waiting lounge. Announcements cannot be heard in all of the terminal - leading to longer delays as planes cannot leave.

ALL CLIMBERS READ BEFORE BOOKING FLIGHTS HERE. IF YOU ARE FLYING HERE FOR CLIMBING CHECK ALL OF YOUR EQUIPMENT!!!!!....Airport actually quite good for such a small airport, the security team need serious retraining in what is a dangerous weapon!!!

Arrival was basic but ok, return was chaotic as everyone says

Absolutely a nightmare especially when you have the pleasure of delays. Consider going by car to the Alps, never thru Grenoble Airport!

The worst airport ever! Avoid at all costs.
You queue outside to get into the arrivals hall when you land, no space at all. Returning home, absolute chaos...too many people, not enough check in desks, unhelpful staff and just. It enough space for the number of ski flights.

Small barely functional airport, a fair way from Grenoble. Had a terrible experience with the officious security, who deliberately held us until last, and then took the carabineers from my climbing harness and tried to bully my wife into giving them her grigri. They claimed they were dangerous and we could hit someone with them and pretended to not have ever seen one before (in the French Alps!!!). The French people with steel pointed leki walking poles and the DJ with a large steel mixer were let through fine.

They heard you in like cattle, every flight was delayed some by 4 hours, absolutely rammed with no order. One lady was controlling who could and who couldn't get through to security. Staff were rude towards anybody who wasn't French and ignored you accordingly (don't get a job at a fricken airport then). Avoid this airport at all costs, better of flying to Geneva.

got to air port 2 hours before flight take off...all good soo far... The airport caused our plane to be delayed by 2 hours as it was soo busy with other planes. very disorganised. Don't want to return. (Felt like the airport was playing chubby bunny but with people and planes and was at the stage of spitting all back out)

We nearly had £1000 of climbing equipment confiscated (Carabiners, harnesses quickdraws, belay devices etc.) As it was "prohibited by FRENCH law", which we were not allowed to see. After much wrangling and a lot of help for the Ryanair operative we were able to get our equipment put into a bag and get it put into the hold.

IF YOU ARE FLYING HERE FOR CLIMBING CHECK ALL OF YOUR EQUIPMENT!!!!!

Next time I'll go via Geneva as the Swiss are capable of running an efficient airport. Shambles.
