The museum stands in the Royal Tennis Court just outside the gates of Versailles, just steps from where the Revolution culminated decisively against the "Ancient Regime" (as it was called). Moreover, the Revolutionaries had actually thought of using this Royal Tennis Court site as a memorial to the Revolution, so it is very significant location.

This is a very convenient (especially if you travel by rail) although overlooked museum about the crazed French Revolutionaries that probably massacred far more peasants and other revolutionaries than aristocrats. If you see Versailles and are astounded by the immense grandiosity and expense, then it would only make sense to visit this museum to ponder what followed.

Great experience seeing where an important event from the French revolution started. There is few people there since all the crowds are at Versailles castle.

Un beau moment d'histoire sur un site où la visite est gratuite.... attention l'hiver il fait froid dans la salle
