Very well preserved extermination camp from WWll. The place gives idea of suffering people who were placed there.

A really interesting Place with much of our History. You can see how terrible they lived there. Most of the object are originals. Don't forget warm clothes, it's really cold there sometimes

A somber place to visit, but an important part of history that we must never forget. Such horror surrounded by such beauty. Would have like more English translation or an audio guide.

Sam is so wonderful! I've been in a handful of times to grab a few basics, but I returned and spent quite a while playing around with a few things because I felt welcome to. As a former long-term stylist, I can't stand it when people try to style me or push product onto me, where here I never once felt pressured or talked-down-to, only informed of the items I was considering, which is perfect. I came back later a second time the same night to buy more.
When my card wouldn't go through due to an error, Sam was non-judgmental and worked with me until we got it to go through. You don't find many people like that in dallas. Go for the clothes, stay for the atmosphere!

This is a concentration camp. You can discover many things about the organization of one of the worst things made by humans. This is very moving, I my opinion.

I first visited this Concentration Camp/Camp of Deportation about 30 years ago. Readers of WW2 think local people must have known what went on. Well Natzweiler/Struthof has changed now with car park etc: When I visited you could drive to within 100 yards with the camp directly in front of you and see NOTHING of the camp. It is situated in an heavily forested area. The camp is uphill, but in a sort of bowl so you see nothing until you arrive. The approach road was of course off limits to locals during the War. In a former farmhouse building near the camp, the first experiments in gassing were carried out. In a small chamber, chemicals were placed in a sealed drain in the floor. About 12 inmates were shut in and water was poured into a spout that went inside the chamber and fell on the chemicals to activate them. The primary SS Officer was Josef Kramer, who later went to Auschwitz and finally Belsen as Commandant. He was hanged by the British at Hameln. Several female captured British agents were also executed at Natzweiler, by injection and the bodies were cremated. The camp crematorium still stands. The primary function of the camp was a nearby stone quarry. Inmates died at Natzweiler, but it was NOT primarily an extermination camp, as some in Poland. NB. a very similar named camp Stutthof was situated near Danzig Poland, although tiny compared with Majdanek or Auschwitz, it did have a small gas chamber.

A great historical museum that educates on the tragic past I would definitely recommend it!
