Great wine, cheese and desserts. Fine wine cellar. Nice atmosphere.

Four of us visited here one Thursday – the place seemed to be quite popular. If it is popularity is by reputation then I’m afraid it did not impress on the evening we visited. Firstly while the staff were polite enough, there was an overly exaggerated air of, how shall I say, ‘ponciness’ about the place which became rather irritating as the evening progressed. This would have been fine if the food that was served matched the manner in which it was offered, unfortunately it did not – falling short by a long way, this just made the whole charade even more irritating. A prime example of this was the way their ‘pet/guest’ lobster was paraded around each table before orders were taken. I’m not sure what this ridiculous display was supposed to achieve? – I know that Haute-Savoi does not have border with the sea but I’m sure its residents are educated enough to know what a live lobster looks like! If you do visit make sure you say hello to Henri the crustacean – and rest assured that if you do order the lobster, you won’t receive Henri on your plate – just one of his considerably smaller cousins!

As for the food, well it wasn’t bad but neither was it good. It was overly simplistic, under flavoured and there wasn’t much of it. You were left with the impression that most of the dishes could have been thrown together at home as a normal evening meal. And at least at home you get to cook the meat correctly – The Fillet Mignons of Pork were not just pink in the middle, they were raw – not something you really want with pork. This was mentioned to the waitress at the end of the course, she said she would let the kitchen know – whether she did or not we don’t know, either way there was no apology.

Were there any good points? – yes, the wine. We sampled several different glasses of the wines on offer, all were well chosen and very pleasant.

Overall though, a number of other restaurants in the area provide far better food and friendlier service and all with less staff and for same price – because of this we will not return to the 111.

Very bad. Too expensive for the quality and type of food. The French fries where burned and soft, and they tried to convince me and the other people in the room some kind of excuse about the type of patatos and the season of year .... Yeah rigth... Fancy plating without quality and over priced = this restaurant
