Bit pricey but quite big. Plenty of animals and I have never been to a zoo where you get this close them. Tip... keep an eye on the feeding times especially the giraffes. You get to feed them carrots from a bridge at their head height! Not a fan of selfies but took my first one with a giraffe at my shoulder. You also get to see the hippos up close on a bridge when they are fed.
Nice cafe at the end with plenty of seating.
Could do with more toilets and handwash/sanitiser stations around the route.
Would come here again.

One of my favorite zoo ever! Well designed with a lot of shadow, can see all animals, look healthy, just a bit surprised that visitors feed them with pop corn.

First of all the Big Cats - far too many for such a small acreage. Some were in moderate sized pens and others were in pens no bigger than an average sized family living room (20 x 20 feet). The cheetahs were actually in pens so small they were more like cages and they were clearly in need of stimulation incredibly alert and hyper sensitive. Many of the other Big Cats looked like they had long ago given up hope - one very small 20 x 20 foot pen had a snow leopard and a lioness. The larger pens approximately half an acre had as many as 10 Big cats in one pen. As we continued to walk around the zoo we were astonished how many Big cats there were on such a small site compared to Marwell Zoo in the UK which has such a large area for the animals to roam that you need a train to get round it or a whole day to walk round. It felt wrong and cruel and we did not want our daughter to think this was OK.
In addition to the lack of respect for the need for these big cats to roam, there was one lonely and disabled adult Elephant. To be fair to the Zoo they were also campaigning for an end to the ivory trade and had information and pictures of why it should be stopped. However right next to the poster stood a real live elephant weaving from side to side - like racehorses do when they are bored - because the only stimulation it had was a small watering hole in the middle of a moderately sized paddock and the wait for its next meal.
I am going to contact Marwell Zoo as well to suggest if they could contact the Zoo owner and maybe even invite him to visit Marwell so that they understand what Big Cats, Cheetahs and other wild animals really need if they have to be captive - room to roam and stimulation. Not just something to be gawped at from a couple of feet away.
The worst thing is these animals are being bred in captivity too.

This was not the best zoo I've been to. There was only one toilet at the entrance so i had to run with my kid through the whole zoo to reach it. Restaurant with only sandwich alternatives openes no earlier than noon. Overall if don't have kids and want to kill 1-2 hours the that the place to go. Otherwise go some other place.
