I just went there for dinner. And the ambience is quite uncomfortable. It's pretty hot outside and we expect there to have Air-con. But all they have is a fan on top of the ceiling, and you can see people fanning with napkins or whatever they have in hands.
The food is okay, maybe I just had high expectations...

Stright up good food and ambience. Dining hall style with good attentive staff. English spoken perfectly by floor and kitchen staff.
Menu is an exciting variation on classic Bouchon cuisine with good variety of wines.
Lyon to the core.
Reservation strongly recommended.

Such a great find in Vieux Lyon! The flavours were amazing, and we felt like we had found a truly local restaurant for dinner. Will return next time we are in Lyon.

You know when you travel and find a hidden gem of a restaurant in a place where other tourist would naturally pass by and never know that they missed something special? This is it!!!. Hidden in the street right behind Avenue Trios Maries in Viex Lyon is the wonderful AUX 24 Colonnes. This place is great!!! It has traditional Lyonnais cuisine but the food is all homemade and not the usual processed or high volume variety of many of the other Lyon Bouchons. The Owner, Eric stand ready to tell you great details about the meal, the food, the preparation and the history of the neighborhood as well as the best pubs to visit after your meals. He is wonderful resource and a delightful host. Chef Phillippe prepares each dish with the love and care that he would use if he were making it for his own beloved family. He is a truly gifted Chef.
Each year for at least for the last 7 years I travel to Lyon and I get to try many of the culinary delights in Lyon. Lyon is truly the gastronomic capital of France (sorry Paris). I have tried Restaurants all over the city and of many varieties and levels of quality. There is one restaurant I discovered last year and now I go back to over and over it is Aux 24 Colonnes. This past week, I ate there three times and was delighted each time by the delicious appetizers, meals & desserts and the quality of the food. I had the Quenelle (a soufflé) which was cooked in a delicious sauce. It is one of my favorites. My starter was a traditional Lyonnais salad. However, Chef Phillipe puts his own spin on it giving it elements that make it stand apart from many of the other versions I have had in Lyon. The deserts are sublime! I had the Chocolate Gateaux which was heavenly! The following evening I had the steak and it was cooked just right! It was tender and pink in all of the right places. The potatoes au gratin were light and flavorful and the ratatouille was fresh and light. There was also the Tartar which came with a beautiful fresh selection of herbs and sauces to make a great mixture with the Tartar. It is one of the best In Lyon. Also the Tarte à la Praline was delicious. They were even kind enough to prepare a special crème brûlée for me.
Overall, the food is excellent and the staff delightful and the service excellent. If you have the opportunity to eat there do not miss it. You will want to eat there over & over again as I do.
