We gave the site 3 stars for its location, pitch size and views over the Loire. However there were observations that marred our visit in June, some days it was more like a building site:-
A rotovator starting up at 7AM!
A fork lift moving picnic tables around the site.
A tractor with a post hole drill inserting pitch markers.
Play equipment still being installed.
The shower at the swimming pool had no tap or shower head despite showering being requested.
Huttopia signs being erected ( the site opened at the beginning of May).
I agree with a previous reviewer about the chemical toilet emptying point. It was opened again later but there should be a tap at the emptying point to rinse out cassettes.
All of these points should have been completed BEFORE the site opened in May. not when campers are there.
We shall not use Huttopia sites again.

So far, so good. Good range of facilities with swimming pools and play areas. Plenty of activities for children of you're staying on site during the day. Small and limited bar, but comfortable and friendly. Some stunning views over the Loire, and although site looks a little 'tired' in places (weeds in pool patio as one example), it's a very picturesque site. Staff speak good English and are patient when tourists like me give their rusty French a go and, most likely, murder their language!

Even when it rained it was a great place to stay for the week! Lovely pool uncovered and covered, with good quality facilities..

You pay top dollar but none of the facilities are open until July. No bar, no shop, no restaurant not even to buy chips. Back in 2001 it won the best site and since then it's just gone from from bad to worse. Pay extra for a loire pitch, 3.50 euros and when you get there and there is plants and foliage blocking your veiw. Brilliant? Watch you do not get caught paying for extra size pitch without anyone telling you. Very sad really because it used to be a very nice and tidy site with wonderful flower beds which are now overgrown. The showers are cold most morning's and not kept very clean. After fifteen years of regularly going to this site we have had enough. We spend 6 months in France and most sites are top dollar. Very sad Chantipie.

Expensive for what turned out to be a poorly run, cramped site, with a dirty children's pool(we spent a week,it was categorically not cleaned, the floating plasters just multiplied). We were so excited when we booked it but...as well as the above points the staff were either missing, pretty rude, or just disinterested and inefficient. There were lots of missing services(one washing machine working for so many people, no kids club for my 4 year old despite staff advising there was prior to booking, wifi worked only near the cafe between 6am and 7.30 am., I did (great)wine tasting and discovered afterwards that I would have gotten a free tour instead of paying and a percentage off my purchases if I had known that they had an arrangement with the campsite)
Spent a week in early August and won't be returning.
Upsides: the view, the location. One bearded staff member seemed to try to hold it all to gether
Great sites nearby, for less, with large pitches and super staff. (Domaine de la Breche for e.g.)The area itself is la bombe

Disappointing
On arrival were told electricity on pitches but no water.
We asked for all service pitch, were told no - but this was not the case.
After staying and paying for one night, we looked around the site ( we had stayed before), and found that there were all service pitches vacant.
Booking for a further 13 nights on one of these pitches, we had to pay in full in advance (something that we had never encountered in the thirty years of staying on sites throughout France).
On the female side of the toilets only 2 were open.
The chemical disposal point was out of action. To empty, all had to dispose in the toilet, and then rinse with the outside water tap (this used to collect water for ALL of the pitches which were without).
Shop had a few packets of dried pasta, and cabinet had a few bottles of soft drinks.
Bar was not open
Snack bar not open.
Would not recommend; this site has been ruined for us.

Huge shady pitch in a beautiful setting. The staff are really helpful! We loved the magic show and the covered pool!

We booked this site months in advanced when it was independently owned having stayed at what was their sister site in Brissac which was outstanding. Initial impressions were that the site was neglected. Weeds in flower beds and very overgrown bushes between pitches, overhanging trees in need of cutting back. Not once in our two weeks did I see any maintenance.
The shop had a very limited stock. The bar and restaurant were only open from 5pm and half the small menu not available. Then after a week they closed it completely, not even being able to buy a drink. Reception closed all afternoon so couldn't access the clubs for pitch and put which also needs some maintenence. They said the reason for these things was it was the end of season, yet there was still plenty of campers who had paid full price for their pitch expecting these services. The lovely family bathroom area was also closed during our stay. We felt as if we were out staying welcome.
The covered heated pool wasn't always heated and could be rather cold. The paving around this pool was a hazard with loose and uneven slabs which I had read in a review in Aug 2015, so nothing had been done about it.
Saying that the site is in great location for Saumur and all the attractions in the area.
We had booked a river view pitch and this made our holiday. It was so relaxing sitting at our pitch with the lovely view of the river and it felt very private. The staff in reception were friendly and helpful.
Ok they say the site is going to be renovated but if they couldn't maintain what was a well loved and looked after site I'm not sure
