Better fly to Toulouse and then come to Carcassonne. This is the smallest airport I've ever seen. The passport control is after baggage reclaim. You have to queue outside the airport (doesn't matter if it's raining). I've waited about 45 mins. There's only one caffe before he security control so if you are the lucky one to find a seat available better to wait there.

A small airport - but I have to give it 1 star for what the airport management have done to the arrivals hall. You land on the tarmac - previously you would queue up before the baggage area and show your passport and you would breeze through - now they have moved the passport check - you have to queue up next to where people are collecting their bags and this is an absolute disaster - what was once an easy to use airport has been ruined by some idiotic management who clearly want to annoy every passenger arriving into the airport. Change this passport checking back to what it was and this airport goes back to being 4/5 rather than 1/5.

Only vending machines and very uncomfy metal seats air-side but there is a reasonable cafe and shaded/leafy area to sit out the front before security.

The real bonus is that you can ignore your pre-printed boarding card and turn up to your flight with barely an hour to spare and you will walk on in mere moments.

To be clear I use Carcassonne almost yearly and this is a new development changing from the standard passport then pickup which used to work perfectly. I have no idea why they've made this less efficient. It was clear everybody there was struggling with the terrible system and it can't be easy on the few staff to manage.

This is the only airport I've ever been to where the passport control is after baggage reclaim and due to the size of the airport both these things are in the same small room. It means everyone bundles round the baggage carousel whilst people without bags queue for passport control and then there's not enough room for both these things to happen at the same time. As a solo passenger despite being third off the plane by the time I picked up my bags I had to join the very back of a passport queue which went back outside the building. I stood in the 35° sun for 15 minutes waiting for the queue to break down and allow me back inside to the position I held before picking up my bags.

Queued up at the passportcontrol for 1 hour in strong sun and after in the same very small area where the luggage was collected. What a chaos!
Passportcontrol for a schengen flight from belgium? Where is europe to stop this! They looked at the passport for long time and not even registered it..

Budget airline Ryanair uses this airport, always undergoing improvements, café is now on the ground floor, small airport, not enough parking but you can get a bus or taxi into Carcassonne from here when planes arrive, lots of car hire companies have bases here.

Very small and only one cafe style place before you get through security. Only airport close to Carcassonne, so very convenient.

Coupled with Ryanair's latest 'policy' of splitting up couples to force you to pay to choose seats I'm considering switching my opinion back to easyjet being a better choice and therefore choosing the far more efficient Toulouse airport in the future.

This is a tiny airport. Pretty much the only airline that flies here is Ryanair.
