This is an excellent interpretive centre for the oradour massacre memorial village. Gives a lot of context as to why the nazis ended up massacring most of the inhabitants of the village. Walking around the village is a very moving experience.

The preserved village is a stark reminder of how politics can lead to the extermination of certain groups in mankind.

If you are about 100 miles from here, it's worth the trip.

Fantastic experience! Beautiful monument to a terrible event in history. A real must if you are interested in WW2 and in the area! When we pulled up in the parking we were a bit afraid it'd be too busy, but as the whole martyr village is pretty massive, it still felt eerie and abandoned. Parking is free and so is entrance to the village without entrance to the exhibition inside the visitors center. Fantastic!

Prior reading in to the atrocity is recommended for a better visit, take the time to appreciate the actions that took place here.

The 600 plus slaughtered here must not be forgotten.

An extremely moving and sombre place. An absolute must visit if you're in the area, easily one of the best memorials I've ever visited. Words can't do this place justice.

Fantastic interpretation centre that explains the issues surrounding the massacre here in 1944.

We stopped here in the local camping aire for an over night stop. The museum was full of information regarding what had taken place here. It still didn't prepare us for what we found when touring the village. The most chilling being the chapel and the story about what took place. An extremely well kept piece of important history.

If you're at all interested in WW2 history then you dont need to be an enthusiast to appreciate this memorial.
The ruined town untouched since its tragic end with rusty vehicles and odd bits of homeware still in place is haunting. The museum graphically describes the horrors and the impact on those left behind.
As you would hope, they ask for silence in the actual town, and respect every where on site. In early September the heat was quite inescapable around the town so leave small children behind if possible, be ready for a solemn and sobering experience full of meaning, wear a hat and have a bottle of water in your bag!

This is a truly amazing, thought sobering place. A remarkable memorial. Very emotional place, you can't help but be deeply moved.

Must visit for all ages. A true reflection of history which leaves plenty of time and space for contemplation. Extremely worth the detour to visit.

A must see memorial!
This is one of the most impressive memorials I've seen. This village, after the massacre, has been frozen in time.
You'll start your visit in the small, but very interesting museum. Next up is the village.
You're requested to visit it in silence. I can assure you, that won't be a problem. If you'll close your eyes, you can imagine how people used to live here. I got goosbumps all over.
