A juste titre considéré comme un château de la Loire, il domine la rivière le Loir de son promontoire rocheux. Actuellement en travaux, il méritera une nouvelle visite une fois ceux - ci achevés. On s'attardera néanmoins à la Sainte Chapelle et à sa belle série de statues polychrome, ainsi qu'au jardin suspendu qui constitue l'une des originalité de l'édifice. L'histoire du château est associée à l'épopée de Jean de Dunois, compagnon d'armes de Jeanne d'Arc et l'un des artisans de la fin de la guerre de Cent ans dont une exposition rend hommage.

Magnifique ville avec parc merveilleux ombragé avec cours d eau canards nénuphars, parcours canoe kayak etc.

Excellent Château to look round with some wonderful tapestries.
More English explanations would make it better especially the audio room with information about the tapestries.
Be warned though - very steep steps and a lot of them. Especially the stairway from the Motorhome Aire / Car Park.
There is another way up but the narrow roads are extremely steep and cobbled.
Very limited access for wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
Very helpful staff with quite good English spoken.

Really exciting place where you want to come back ... have been there several times over the past 8 years and you can see that it is improving continuously. In addition, entering the price is fine and you can pack your car close to. I would like to recommend that you go in and see the place ... and maybe a trip into the square in the city center, which is within walking distance of the castle.

Fantastic château, very historic. Very friendly and helpful staff with good English language. Write ups and information leaflets etc all in English as well as French.

Interesting place to visit. The view over the town from the terrace is spectacular. Look out for the fossils in the marble on the staircase.

The biggest attraction of the city, beautiful gardens and renovated castle.
Entrance at a fee.
