Overpriced. Unboned fish filets. Unfriendly staff. Plenty of great bouillabaisse elsewhere.

If you want the best selection of perfectly cooked fish that you may experience in your life in a broth that has a depth of flavour that will expand your taste buds, then make a reservation and go to Chez Fonfon for your Bouillabaisse fix. The service was impeccable, the wine recommendation was spot on, and reasonably priced (33€ for a fantastic bottle). The view was of a sheltered bay with peak-a-boo views to the sea and lighthouse.

I'm American, so this is very much from that perspective. We'd been in France for a week now and had been received everywhere with warmth, grace, and understanding of our lack of French vocabulary. However, we were met with indignity at this establishment. The service was severely lacking and those serving us did nothing to make us feel welcome despite their mastery of the English language. We had received wonderful service elsewhere where the servers spoke very little English, so it had nothing to do with the language barrier at all, it was very much the tone and body language along with some choice words that came across very rude. The food was good but not excellent, my wife enjoyed her scallops very much. I had built up bouillabaisse very much after reading about it extensively and had gone out of my way to come this restaurant to have it based on reviews and research. Unfortunately I did not find it to be as amazing as I had hoped. It was good, but I'm unsure if it was $55 good. Yes the helping was large and filling, but flavor wise it was lacking. For other travellers, I'd also like to let you know that the dress is casual, as in jeans and a polo kind of casual. The view from the restaurant is wonderful and was probably the best thing about our meal.

I will give a negative rating if there's any. Rude server! Had a reservation, arrived about ten minutes early, and asked if I could be seated near a window and it was lunchtime (not their busy time) with so many tables available. He ignored me, and when I moved after a while, he insisted that I be seated back to where I was. I would have complied if only he wasn't very rude, and admonished me like a child. I wouldn't stay after being insulted like that; it's food after all and I wouldn't risk it; who knows what happens behind that kitchen. So I left. The price of popularity, shame as I've been wanting to try their version of the bouillabaisse. Good thing I already had a good one and excellent customer service in another restaurant two nights ago. No wonder my hotel never recommended this Chez Fonfon even if it was showing up in most bouillabaisse reviews and was just a five minute walk away from my hotel. Good riddance, will definitely not recommend especially if you're dining solo.

Came here to try the Bouillabaisse, apparently one of the most authentic places, as it was part of the "charter" restaurants. The seafood was great, pricier than I thought, but then again, when in Marseille...

We had done some research and decided to come here for the bouillabaisse but the whole experience was very disappointing from the food right through to the service or lack of it to be more precise. We did have younger children with us and expect this may have had something to do with the attitude but still not deserving of a better review unfortunately.

Wonderful dinning! Nice place, friendly service, picturesque location and very tasty grilled fish of the day, but, you know, the vegetables and sause were amazing beyond belief! Highly recomended!

Delicious but pricey. We were lucky enough to be sat next to the window and was able to enjoy the view of the small dock for local fishermen. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is quite up market.
