The Musee (and attached theater) is a short train ride from Paris and has a very nice little cafe attached. I recommend it highly.

All in French, very small museum, mostly obscure movies. A true connoiseur of French cinema would love the place though.

I loved the Musee--Hollywood has no sense of history and this is one of the best collections of movie material I have ever seen! From equipment (and costume) used by Melies and the Lumiere brothers through Film Noir, the museum shows you the history of film through equipment, costume, and film. There is a remarkable replica of the Metropolis Robot built by the man who made the original; storyboards from Cabinet of Dr. Caligari,; and a wonderful Charlie Chaplin caricature/autograph.

I have been to Paris twice now, desperate to visit this museum. However, they fail to advertise their holiday closure, and yet again, I missed out on visiting! I know that it is closed most of summer, which is impractical. I would love to learn more about the Melies collection and the buildings architecture (Ghery) so I hope to revisit at some point again, when it is open.
