We stayed at Hotel Duguesclin end of June. The hotel is located right on the ocean front; however, (not their fault) the Atlantic tide in this area recedes a great distance during low tide. A lot of seaweed is left behind and lays on the sand which smells very bad when the sun is out. Like rotten fish. The hotel is not air conditioned and due to the foul smell of the seaweed you cannot open windows to get fresh air or cool down your room. Luckily we were only here three days. Spending more time would have been very difficult due to this problem.

Traditional (old fashioned) French seafood restaurant. Expensive for what you get. 22€ for a basic 3 course menu. Chipped plates. Lettuce brown at the edges. Supermarket standard tomatoes.. Chips cooked in stale fat. 4,60€ for a Coke or Orangina!. But there is a great view of the sea.

Don't bother just keep driving by
Reminded me of a sad weekend hotel in Blackpool that needed a lot of money spent on it
Didn't eat there !
Had to pay 5€ a bath that was never used
WiFi didn't reach the 2nd floor

Food was good, so hat's off to the chef. And our first server (I assumed she was part-owner because of her patience and business sense) was good. But the entire experience took a nose dive when the second server came in and ridiculed us in front of other guests for being Americans. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and were minding or own business and being polite, not acting like the obnoxious Americans that others claim we are. We were the only two people in the entire dining room. Tried our best to speak the native language and respect the culture. Then in walk 4 gentlemen who were obviously French. The first guy nodded and I acknowledged him back because that's what I consider customary. Then the young waitress immediately walks in behind him to explain that we are Americans and that's why I didn't properly acknowledge him, like I was supposed to get up and kiss the man's ring as if he was Louis XIV. She then proceeded to deliberately not bring us our check for the next hour while she and the guys at the table talked about me and my new bride. Little did they know my wife speaks great French, so she understood everything. Rather than confront the girl on the spot, I'd rather post this so that any self-respecting American who goes to Normandy to pay tribute to the heroes who allowed the French to keep their precious language rather than speak Kraut can know that they should not step foot in this dump. The only reason i added this sess pool of a town to our honeymoon was so that i could pay tribute to American heroes who died while these silly frogs waived their white flags. And not because of the food, sorry chef. Food was good.

Rooms are terrible and dirty

We stayed here at the end of June. Hotel is located on the Atlantic. Nice view; however (not the fault of the hotel) the low tide recedes a great distance leaving alot of seaweed behind to dry out on the sand. When the sun is out the smell is awful. Like rotting fish. Due to this strong odor we were unable to open our windows to cool down our room. The hotel is not air conditioned. We were only there three days, luckily.
