COMPLETE LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM MANAGING RESERVATIONS
The facts: i) a reservation explicitly confirmed on January the 25th for August the 25th (Monday). ii) A few days earlier, on 11 August, just by luck, I sent a new mail announcing our arrival. iii) The answer just informed me that the restaurant in summer is closed on Mondays. Where was my reservation put until I sent this mail? ¿? iv) Did the answer include a word of apology for their mistake? NOP!! For sure they didn't have time before my email to inform me about “the detail”. Which is a big one given that if you are no in the area, you must drive more than 30 km. to the restaurant in a road like hell.

We stayed there for four days during the ski season. The staff really could not try harder and we have stayed at a lot of 'Relais & Chateau' over the years. I was down with a bug and I was with a fourteen year old (so not the ideal age for Michellin Three Star) so we did not eat at the restaurant which is, as it should be, very very expensive. Even though it is very small hotel there are a lot of staff and nothing is too much problem. On our last day they let us ski after we checked out and we changed in their nice spa, and were given a wonderful leaving present (and back in London that evening, leaving the hotel at 4.45). My fourteen year old curious to go out at night and there is really nothing else at all in the village but they are more than happy to drive you to St Martin (my favourite Alpine village as I know it has a history as I have heard about from people who were there before there was skiing) and back. Perhaps not everyone wants a Michellin meal every night (?!). Our room has character, and there is a huge magic to the place knowing that there is a three star restaurant - you walk just a few yards outside to get to them. A larger hotel would also have a cafe/morning bar or something, so doing what we did (i.e. staying at France's best restaurant without eating there) may not suit everyone. They very kindly made my 14 year old simple pasta for the room in the evening. Breakfasts are very French with a Michellin 'twirl' (i.e. no massive buffet of cereal etc. but a choice of specially baked bread). The owners are very keen to make you all welcome. Room service really does get you things delivered (not true of many hotels who seem to 'forget' as simple questions are referred up management levels resulting in you spending hours of uncertainty about simple questions). Lovely village, great breakfast and room service (restaurant widely reviewed elsewhere), wonderful people

The point is not only the unprofessional management of reservations nor the lack of an apology when informing about their mistake (not upon arrival when they try to avoid a word about it), but that the information in the restaurant website doesn’t say a word about that it is closed on Summer’s Mondays (as far as end of August 2014). Nor in the information the restaurant offers to guides as relevant as Michelin (Via Michelin).
So, be sure to reconfirm the reservation in advance in you decide to go there. For sure I will never go back again.

Expensive though worth every euro. A birthday treat from my wife like no other. I mentioned this when booking and received a little birthday cake with the dessert. Not asked for nor charged to the bill.
From aperitifs to coffee the whole experience was superb. Service was superb though unobtrusive and the choice of wines complemented the sensational food. No wonder they have three Michelin stars!
