The traditional Poilâne bread ("une miche Poilâne") is a very large round bread that is usually sold pre-sliced. An entire bread weighs about 4 pounds, but you can buy just part of it. The bread has a thick, chewy crust and a dense, dark interior. I like to eat it plain or with butter. It's also the best bread for making a fondue sayoyarde, because it is dense and doesn't break apart in the pot. If you go to the bakery, you can get the bread unsliced. This way it keeps fresh longer and it it easier to cut in cubes for a fondue. I also get a bag of butter cookies when I'm here.

Good breads, but quite expensive.
Look like an old fashioned shop.

Came here for pan au chocolate but it was sold out by 3pm. So sad... However the croissant and apple pastry made up for it. Yum yum in my tum tum.

This is where you come when you want a properly baked French loaf of bread. They don't sell baguettes but they do have both the regular pain de mie (loaf of bread) as well as the batard (rustic bread). They do some sweets as well but overall the bread is correctly priced and the service is convivial.

If you are visiting Paris, you may want to take a picture. The store is always clean, and there's no junk that you find in many other bakeries (candy, drinks, etc.).

Amazing bakery cant so many good things its hard to choose

The payment system is a bit different here. You order what you want, then they tell you how much it will cost, then you pay the cashier in the center of the store, then they give you the bread (or cookies).
