One of the comments in a review recommended booking a room on the back side of the hotel as the road runs right beside the building. I indicated in my reservation that I wanted a room on the back and, just to be safe I decided to call the residence and spoke to a very nice lady who assured me that would be no problem and took note of my request (I’m sure you can see where this heading).

On the positive side, the hotel is situated right next to the Vallorcine ski lift which is convenient. The condition of the hotel is good and the views are nice.

Well worth the money and a great apartment. Had everything we needed. The town was closed for between seasons but the staff was very accommodating and provided us a way to get dinner and breakfast.

Modern apart hotel ideal for families with young children. Situated close to the ski lift of one of the most jaw dropping ski runs at over 2800m above ground Staff are helpful and polite and amenities for kids are good. One must keep in mind that typical hotel services could be missed such as room service and housekeeping. Big bonus are the videos on demand free of charge. Rooms are suitably designed however poor quality mattresses and pillow textures make for sleepless nights and big minus to the quality of stay at La Residence.

It's a lovely place. Indoor pool, sauna and gym are very nice. The apartments are small but well appointed and comfortable. The staff are very helpful and friendly.

Now the pool, at the moment the hotel is fully occupied and the pool is way overcrowded (+50 people for a small to medium size pool – most being smaller kids). Parking will also be a challenge if you have a larger car – I have an SUV and needed a shoe horn to get it parked.

I suppose if you’re a couple or family with small kids and you book directly with the hotel and stay on the backside and don’t mind the crowded amenities, you’ll have a good time!

Lovely apartment hotel, right by the ski lift in Vallorcine. Perfect for the train, skiing, hiking, snow shoeing. It lost a star as the hot water ran out, and the reception is not manned full time.

Not a very good experience and I will think twice before booking through TripAdvisor again, same for staying again at The Vallorcine Mont Blanc Spa.

Very nice, positive and fluently English speaking staff. Unfortunately the swimming pool, reception and especially the sauna are not open for long enough. They are being closed at 20:00. When you come back from hiking or skiing too late you can't use them and rest after an active day. What was also troublesome is the fact that you have only two toilet papers per room. At the reception they didn't even have more to give/sell us. The midweek room cleaning is also paid extra. Hotel itself is niecely located, and I in general enjoyed my stay. But some issues were very disappointing.

Back to the story, when I arrived at the hotel, not only do I find that my room is on the front directly beside the road, but there are only 4 beds (and we’re 5 with 2 adults and 3 teenagers). So, my kids are taking turns sleeping on an uncomfortable couch in the TV room.

We stayed 1 night.
The apartment (1 bedroom) was good for 4 persons (3 adults and 1 child)
clean and contains everything you need for self catering apartment.
The spa (pool and sauna) was a great extra.
The lady at reception was very kind and helpful for my questions about the area.
Overall, we enjoyed and recommend.

Thank You - we found everything we're expecting. Apartment was great and the staff was helpful and nice.

Also worth noting, when I complained to the front desk about being placed on the front side of the hotel (after having specifically requested the back side), the best the manager could do was offer me the use of a bath robe free of charge for the week… needless to say I passed on her gracious offer as I’m not really a bath robe kind of person…

Monic on reception so helpful. Delighted with apartment which is spacious, comfortable and traditional French style. Amazing views and away from busy tourist area. Will visit again.love hearing the birds and rushing river water. Perfect for families.

While speaking with the lady I then discovered that I could have (and should have) booked directly with the hotel. Not only would I have avoided the 150 euro booking fee from TripAdvisor/Poplidays, but I also would’ve received a cheaper rate… thus instead of paying 855 euro’s for 7 nights, I’ve paid an extra 405 euro’s that I could’ve easily saved had I booked direct.

Having previously used TripAdvisor for some time, the reviews carry a high degree of influence in my decision making process. The reviews for this venue were generally positive so I went ahead and booked in March for a stay in August – I’m actually writing this review during my stay at the residence.

We had a lovely stay at the Residence & Spa Vallorcine Mont-Blanc. All of the staff were kind and helpful, and treated us like family. They were very helpful with suggestions on things to do in the local area, despite it being the low season. We chose the location as we could visit areas in Switzerland and France easily. I would definitely stay again.
