At the street level you encounter the names of 76,000 Jews (11,000 of them children) that were deported from France during WWII and from there you descend into the memorial. Similar to other holocaust monuments there is a room/crypt dedicated to the memory of the 6 m Jews who were killed during the holocaust. The permanent collection tells the story of the Jewish people since the inception of their religion until WWII. The museum uses a variety of mediums - projections, images, video, drawings, pamphlets, and placards. All of the information panels are written in French and the majority of them are also written in English. The Memorial also has two temporary exhibition spaces with content changing every three months.

It was a very moving memorial! Filled with tons of information, however most of it only in French which was a bit difficult for non-speakers. Admission is also free and they are open on Sundays as well. Highly recommend visiting if in Paris.

Shattering experience, the exhibition is very well done, it takes some time to get back to today's reality

Vert moving visit of course. And you'll also learn it started well before Hitler. High level of security but very welcoming and helpful staff.

A little anemic for a Holocaust memorial, but demonstrate some important histories of the era

Really invokes the gut wrenching feeling that you should have when made to feel the enormity of such injustice. The service desk people are quite sweet as well. The have security in proportion to their risk though so I'm not sure if you'll be allowed in with a suitcase for example if you're ever in that kind of position.

Truly memorial place, quiet and highly secured. Grand window in to the history of Jews of Marais and other places.

AMAZING museum dedicated to the memory of the victims of Holocaust as told through the individual stories of the forced deportations of French Jews under the rule of the Vichy French and German occupiers.
