Pros: Xavier (owner) was INCREDIBLY flexible. Great responsiveness and a real hustler. 2 out of 3 winery visits were spectacular with great tastings. Jean-Louis (wine marketer) from Chateau Beaujous was incredibly knowledgeable and taught us a lot about Bordeaux's processes. Charlie (somm) from Chateau Ferrand was very young but knew his stuff. Last tour to a chateau in Pomerol fell below standards on both the wines and the facility, but the wine-maker was also sharp.

Cons: 33 Tours seems well connected to great wineries BUT the guide did not provide anything more than an elementary overview of Bordeaux wines. If you have done any research, it's mostly redundant until you get to the winery specialists. Guide couldn't seem to get that we had studied the region and gave us the cookie-cutter explanations. Other than that, 33 Tours guide acted as a chauffeur and was mostly silent/not-present for tours. Value of winery visits were 20, ~20, and 4 Euro respectively per person if you had booked on your own. So if you pay 429 Euro, that means that you're essentially paying 33 Tours 341 (429 - 2*44) Euros to provide a driver and car for 2 people. I don't think that's value.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the "Simply Red" tour with Xavier. It was the perfect balance of education, tasting, sight-seeing, and relaxation. Each chateau we visited had its own charm, and after this weekend we gained a whole new appreciation for the different wines from the various terrains of Bordeaux. The whole trip was tailored to our liking, and Xavier proved to be a very personable guide with a lot of knowledge to share and passion for his land. Definitely a memorable trip!

We just returned from Bordeaux and we wanted to express our appreciation for the 33Tour St. Emilion wine tour that we had with Maryse on Jan 15th.
First, let me say that we have traveled quite a bit in the United States and Europe, and we have been on many tours, but we have never had a better tour guide than Maryse. Her knowledge of not only St. Emilion, but of the city of Bordeaux and the entire Bordeaux wine region was truly outstanding. We learned more from her and the winery representatives that conducted our tours of Chateau Ferrand, Chateau Beausejour, and Chateua Tailhac in one day, than in a couple of years touring wine regions in California and Italy. When there was an unexpected illness with the person at Chateau Petit Village who was to conduct our wine tour there, within minutes she had arranged for us to visit Chateau Tailhac where we had a great tour and tasting with the owner, himself. We enjoyed our lunch at Chai Pascal in St. Emilion and her guidance through the town as she explained its history. She was well received by people wherever we met and it was obvious to us that she is well liked and respected by many.
It was really the best day of a wonderful trip for us in Bordeaux and the Basque region of Spain. My compliments to you and 33Tour for designing such a wonderful trip with such a warm, friendly and knowledgeable guide. We would definitely like to hire you again when we return to Bordeaux and we will recommend you to our fellow wine travelers when they are looking for a guide in Bordeaux.
Please pass along our best wishes to Maryse, and our gratitude for spending such a nice day with her

My wife and I spent an amazing day exploring the Saint Emilion region of Bordeaux with our lovely guide and wine professional Chloe. This was our first trip to Bordeaux and we wanted to experience the vineyards in a unique way that would allow us not only to enjoy the region but to learn about what makes wine from this area so special. 33Tour Bordeaux & Chateaux came highly recommended and they exceeded our expectations.
As we planned our trip we contacted 33Tour Bordeaux & Chateaux to request availability and pricing. Ysabel was extremely responsive and made booking and payment extremely easy. As we approached the date of our trip, Ysabel finalized our personalized itinerary and provided us with all the details of the logistics that we would need for the day of our tour.
The day began with the “silent” arrival of Chloe driving a head-turning black Tesla. The innovative use of a Tesla for touring is a great way to help minimize the impact of “tours” on the environment. Chloe provided us with an overview of the day and we began our wine journey. During the ride to our first Chateaux , Chloe explained a lot of the characteristics that make Bordeaux wines unique. Her knowledge and expertise was very impressive and she was able to simplify complex topics for us to understand.
Our first stop was at Chateau Fombrauge, GCC in St Emilion. The visit consisted of a private tour of the property and a hands-on wine blending experience that allowed us a glimpse into the art of wine blending. Our second destination was Les Belles Perdrix de Troplong Mondot for a pre-arranged “Michelin Star” three course lunch. The views from the terrace were breath-taking and the lunch was superb.
Chloe re-joined us at the restaurant and we headed into the town centre to pick up Benjamin, a local wine broker, to accompany us to Chateau Beauséjour Duffau Lagarosse, 1st GCC St Emilion. This Chateau is not usually opened for tours but 33Tour Bordeaux & Chateaux and Benjamin were able to organize the “unlocking” for my wife and I. You could feel the history while walking through the cellar and learning about the craftsmanship, skill, and science that has been captured inside the bottles. After “locking up” we headed back to Benjamin’s wine shop, Vignobles & Chateaux, to taste various wines. Even though this private tasting was held at a wine shop there was absolutely no pressure to purchase; it was a relaxing way to put the cork in a day my wife and I will treasure forever.
Cheers to the team at 33Tour Bordeaux & Chateaux for creating such a wonderful day. Thank you Benjamin and to all of the wonderful people we met along our journey. Chloe, thank you for helping us expand our knowledge and appreciation of wine. We really enjoyed spending the day with you and hope to see you again soon.

We booked only the day before and they did everything possible to make this easy and wonderful! Our emails were responded to immediately, our guide (Xavier) was very experienced and took us to the best local restaurant in Saint Emilion and to the best photo areas in the region. On top he shared lots of great insider info on winemaking and the region. Great minivan, super clean! Couldn’t say more or be happier to give an outstanding review. Trust your trip with these guys!

I really like the private tour arranged by Xavier.
He is excellent in explaining background knowledge about Bordeaux.
Mr. Xavier is very easy-going and kind.
All Chateaus he took me to visit are really outstanding and their wine is fantastic!
I recommend those who want to visit Bordeaux to join the private tour arranged by Mr. Xavier.

Take-Away: Really easy to work with but wasn't great on value. Winery tours were good but the guide acted as a glorified driver/chaperon. Not good value for 2 people at 429 Euro total.
We'll never share your email with anyone else.
