Isolated Abbey dating back the year 1009.
Encapsulated among the pyrenees , the access is by foot only (1,6 km) or taking a cab.
A small community of monks still lives here.
Not to be missed.

Awesome place. Splendid location in mountains, the cloister itself is fantastic! Payed guided visits inside, which are worth attending, are led by a local monk or a temporary resident. Don't miss a 5 minute walk to a viewpoint above the Abbey.

It is nice but I am not sure whether it is worth the route.

Un haut lieu de la région dans tous les sens du terme. Cette abbaye fondée en l'an 1000 est admirablement restaurée et entretenue.
L'accès se fait à pied sur un chemin bétonné ou par un service de 4x4.
Vaut le détour.

A stiff hike up into the clouds is like ascending to heaven, as the roar of the river fades away and the sound of crickets takes over. You stumble over the abbey as it suddenly appears, rearing up out of the rock. A well stocked gift shop with tasteful religious items and interesting books, excellent viewpoints around the precincts, and a wonderful 45 minute tour of the cloister, crypt and church. My particular guide (a lay member of the community) was absolutely excellent, and her talk was so clear I understood every word despite only having a little French.

nice excursion with kids ( 2/3 hours walking) the best walk is through the forest . in this case you have to follow the coll de jau , you will find a waterinstallation with the white/ yellow indication. ( 1 hour to get up) here is shade during warm days. enjoy !

Fantastic place, definitelly worth seeing. Though there is only guided tour in French language and you cannot walk there by yourself. However, the views and the abbey itself are wonderful and the place is very calm. We were told that they also accommodate volunteers who come to meditate there and help with some work.

Gorgeous mixed sex abbey ;) ! - a great reward after the pretty walk up from the village.
Rather an intense guide; but a photograph wherever you look.
