Isabelle, Gerome and their family were so kind and helpful. It was delightful to practice our french from days gone by and interact with such caring people. An interesting fact is that an American in 1935 purchased the abbey that had fallen into disrepair and improved the property. Years later, Gerome's father bought the abbey and his children are improving it further.

I was there for 1 week. Great place to stay with good friends and enjoy Normandy. Comfortable, spacy, very private - located at the historical abbey with convenience and charm of being in a small French village with walking distance to the shore. Excellent location to explore Normandy, next to D-day landing beaches, close to historical Bayeux and just to have good time at the beautiful estate. Strongly recommended.

We just had the tour an hour ago, and we loved it. The family was in every way very passionate about the abbaye, the history, the architecture and the future plans. A vip-tour in 60 minutes went by before we knew it, such rich stories occupied us so much that we're still left with questions and we'd like to come back sometime to see it again. Thanks for the experience! Regards from Holland.

We were a family group of 8 staying at the Abbey for 1 week over Easter 2015, and loved the property. Jean-Louis and Esther who run the Gite were very welcoming and made us feel at home. The owners of the Abbey were also around briefly and gave us a guided tour of the Abbey, church and gardens which was a highlight for us.

Travel to Paris and then find peace at the Abbaye Sainte-Marie!

We have rented several homes in France and this one is by far the nicest. We would love to return here in the future!

I stayed at this lovely gite in July with my family and close friends. The owners were very helpful and kind, both before and during our visit. We found the location to be perfect for our needs...quiet but within a relatively short distance from many attractions, including the Normandy beaches and Bayeaux. This was my first visit to Normandy and I enjoyed it very much. The Gite has been recently renovated very tastefully; however, It has a wonderful historic ambiance and all rooms are very pleasant. There are five bedrooms (not all double beds) so it can comfortably accommodate 10 people. The village is also pleasant, with some shops, and is near the coast - about 15 minutes walk.

2016: We returned to this wonderful home in October. We love the home and the location. The house is well-appointed, and the abbey ruins and grounds are an added bonus--friends staying with us enjoyed the tour of the grounds by Esther. The location cannot be beat--easy to explore Bayeux, WWII sites, and the Contentin Peninsula, as well as great hiking and biking opportunities. We've already booked again for fall 2017!

We recommend this location to Americans and others to experience the serenity of a small french village. The home sleeps 10 and is perfect for family reunions, trips with friends or a reward for business promotions. A beautiful room can be rented for weddings and other gatherings, so this could be a very cool desitination wedding.

What a magical experience our family had at this beautiful abbey! My sister and her husband invited family from the United States to share the Normandy area for two weeks in July. We used this property as a home base for our exploration of history, beaches, restaurants, artist venues and charming french culture.

With the rental of 4 bikes, we often road through Longues-sur-Mer to the ocean. It was delightful to ride along the coast, by the german bunkers and down to the secret pebbled beach for some exercise and tranquility! You could feel history come alice while peddling by cows, the bakery and school.

We played badminton in the Gite garden, with the rackets etc provided, and went running on the surrounding country roads, and along the cliffs nearby. We also had a barbecue in the courtyard. The location was ideal for heading out to see the D-Day landing beaches and memorials, as well as visiting Bayeux and Caen which we did during some days as well as when we ate out in the evenings.

We would definitely want to go back again!
