We paid homage here to the men of the Newfoundland Regt. It was heart breaking to know of 768 Officers, NCOs and other ranks who went over in the third wave, only 63 answered roll call the following morning. Lest we forget

Amazing Experience. Such a sad sad story regarding the brave boys of the now Royal Newfoundland Regiment. This site is preserved to the way it was on July 1 1916 save for the overgrowth. Not many sites left to see that have the real trench that were fought in and massive exploded mine holes. I really felt something here. Veterans Affairs Canada has a crack staff of passionate young Canadians working here to walk you thru the experience. EVERY Newfoundlander must visit this site at some point in there life.
