Apart from the families there was also a community of committed cyclists who left the site around 8.30 not arriving back until 4ish, presumably making the most of the extraordinary mountain climbs nearby (including alp d'huez).

Overall, I would highly recommended la Belledonne and camping in the Alps..less popular than the deep south but with a calmer, refreshing vibe. Temperatures were about 12-15 at night and 28 - 33 during the day.

Nice clean mobile home, well equipped kitchen. Little shop with fresh buggets and crossaits every morning. Small restaurant and bar. Highly recommended.

I spent a wonderful 7 day holiday at this campsite in August 2012 with my girlfriend and 9 year old son.

The swimming pools were lovely - clean and with wonderful views, although around 3pm there was singing and music for the kids and between 12 and 4 the area was quite busy. A morning swim however was a treat ....with the mist rising from the mountains and the shadows shortening across the valley.

In process of revamping the site to be more attractive to families. Not too big, no disco or huge "keep my kid happy"-teams, just a small one with simple games to do (which I like), enough facilities and clean. Owners are great and friendly, talk both Dutch and French. And last but not least, magnificent surroundings and easy access to lovely mountain hikes and nice French villages.
Only downsides I found; the young Dutch students that worked as staff, they were very friendly and did their best for sure, knew very little about the surroundings or local ways to get around. The Internet is non existing, wifi and normal data connections are very very slow. The cleaners start cleaning the bathhouse in the middle of the campsites with high pressure hoses at around 6:30 am. :)

Perfect for cyclists! Wi-Fi is pretty bad so wouldn't but it, and bakery is expensive but lovely for morning baguettes.
Lovely staff in the bar and Trevor and Ann are brilliant for Eurocamp!
Loved the scenery and cycling around a great central location with a beautiful town not too far down the road.

The accommodation was fine, we stayed in a purpose built cabin, it was comfortable, with a decent shower and a balcony. The tents also looked civilised (and would certainly have been cheaper).

The mixture of an excursion each day and then returning to the tranquility of La Belledonne in the late afternoon worked well for us.

Spent a week here in August 2015, we booked direct with the campsite at a considerable discount when compared with Eurocamp and our mobile home was brand new. It is a small site, well run with great Dutch staff and it is within easy travelling distance of loads of places. Next time we go, we're packing our road bikes.

If you simply stayed on the campsite all the time you'd definitely get bored but the range of activities nearby was a delight: surprisingly good hiking or gentle canoeing from nearby Bourg D'Oisans was straightforward...we also went lake swimming in les deux alps (ok but not as spectacular as it sounds, the lake is man made) and visited the glacier and ice caves at Meije (amazing views at around 3400m).

The site is mainly Dutch with a few Brits most of whom were Eurocamping like us. The site is undoubtedly family-focused, with a lot of kids playing during the day, bbqs in the evening and then quiet after 10pm. A teenager/20 something looking for hedonism should go elsewhere.

The location is gorgeous, tucked in the valley between mountains on either side and views along the valley floor. A large river runs beside the site which was great for running and there seemed to be some decent forest paths on the other side of the river, but we didn't have time to explore there.
