Ruins of what certainly was the strongest and most grand castle of the 13th and 14th century. Never taken by conflict in its time Coucy was indeed reduced to rubble during the first world war. The efforts to clear and make visable the this historic fortification are immense and ongoing. We'll worth the trip for anyone interested in mid-evil defense and especially those able to view what is and imagine what was.

Amazing place, so much to see.

The outside looks more interesting than the inside. Unfortunately this castle has been destroyed during war times and not much is left besides its walls. It's okay for a stroll and to get some good views on the nearby countryside. The place gets more interesting if you read up on its history.

Amazing medieval castle, a great place to spend an hour or two, probably en route to somewhere else.

I have never been in Coucy, but am reading Barbara Tuchman's book "A distant Mirror - the calamitous 14th century". It does mention the castle of Coucy, on the very first page.

Fête médiévale le 29/4/17. A découvrir.
