If you really like Mexican food or if you would like to try Mexican food don't go to El Sombrero. The environment is nice (and fun), people are really nice but food is very very bad.

Well the service is good but the good is really bad

Simply because all the staff members are wearing a "sombrero" I would not set one foot here. It's offensive and plain stupid. The cherry on the cake would be for them to go around walking with maracas... I'm sure the staff is nice but... Um NO. I've never been to an authentic Mexican restaurant with anyone wearing sombreros. Thanks but no thanks.

Really impressed by this not so little restaurant right in the center of lyon which serve different Mexican food for a really good quality price ratio! If your are student go for the special menu at 12€ for a plate and a starter or dessert, it is worth it! I recommend for the very kind waiters too :)

It's possible we just ordered a couple dud dishes. Maybe some of the others are better. However, it seemed like our food was cooked by someone who hasn't eaten true Mexican food before. It would benefit the restaurant if the cooks became familiar with, and tasted traditional Mexican and Tex-Mex cusine.

Great service and funky atmosphere, but the food was very bad in our opinion. We were looking forward to dining here, but were disappointed by the food. It was not at all like we expect for Mexican or even Tex-Mex food.

Complaints:
--The"tortilla chips" served with the meal were flavored/powdered store-bought chips (like Dorritos or El Paso brand). Decent Mexican restaurants have real house-made tortilla chips.
--The crevettes were dry and overcooked and in what seemed to be a mole sauce (not as advertised and not very good)
--The vegetarian quesada was sparse and flavourless. No beans our salsa were included, as i would expect with this sort of dish.
--Quite expensive, especially for the food quality and portion size.
