So we came all the way from the united States to see Paris proper. We rented two scooters and both of them we're inspected thoroughly for scratches by him. He wrote down where half the scratches were so he could remember where they were. But there were many more than what he wrote down. When we proceeded to take photos of the damages to the vehicle prior to renting it he assured us that it was illegal to take photos of the scooter before renting it. Which was odd. Not only because it is a clear indication that the bike was damaged before we rented it but he also made it clear that any scratches that were made on the bike after we return it would be paid by us. And can you guess what happened? He charged us for the scratches that were there before we rented it. We tried to dispute it by showing him the photos that we took but he said insurance doesn't care about photos and only his visual notes counted. Needless to say if you are traveling and want an honest rental experience this is the last place you want to go for that. The bikes have scratches and he makes money by charging people for damages that were already there.
Please stay away I you are aainst paying for damages that were clearly already there. I am DISGUSTED.

Paris by bike is an absolute must, and I've never had a better rental experience in all my travels. The shopkeel I spoke with was extremely polite and patient despite my poor French, and went out of his way to write down a list of good Cafès and parks in town for my to check out on a map he gave me. Will definitely be back to rent from here again when I visit the city of love next!
