Others have described the station. Certainly not a good experience for older travellers as there is absolutely nowhere to sit at busy times. Not only that we couldn't find a restaurant or cafe in the vicinity that wasn't completely full up so we setltle for Paul's sandwich shop on the main concourse - superb but had to stand up to eat. Having said that the French railways are fantastic and incredibly reasonably priced compared to the UK. Paris to Bordeaux in 2 hrs for 35 Euros first class - fantastic!

Huge building. Little confusing but good.

Used to take the train from this station when in Paris. Large station, well maintained.

Traveling with suitcases? Do not use this station. Walk to the next stop instead, or prepare to spend 15 min walking up and down between 7 and 12 steep staircases, before reaching the Metro platform. No elevator, no escalator.

Gare Montparnasse is really big. It's really, really, really big. There are Métro, RER, local, regional and long-distance trains. If this is your first time at Gare Montparnasse, be sure to leave yourself extra time. If you're going at the beginning or end of a French school vacation period, go very early. It was clean and well-lit today, and there are plenty of shops in and around the train station. There's a bus station right outside.

Big train station that has been undergoing lots of renovation for the better. Plan in advance if you go to the Hall 3 as there is a 5 minutes walk from Hall 1&2.

This station needs much more seating in the concourse. The departure boards are large and easy to read, there are many ticket machines available. There are escalators in the main station but mostly steps down to the metro (not counting the really long travellator).

Huge station with several levels-platforms. Montparnas is quiet a big istance who lives its own life :) You shouldn't be panic, coz the whole information about trains is available there and information desks are helpful.

Careless and clueless SNCF staff.
Dirty station.
Trains are dirty and seats near toilets on the TGV are really not recommended as the smell of the toilet is strong.

Under the Montparnasse station, wide enough to handle the large traffic of people taking the train to the suburbs outside the city. Some shops and bars makes the waiting more pleasant
