I will be avoiding smaller companies at all costs having had a similar experience with Green Motion. Hertz on the other hand are always excellent and even though are slightly more expensive to rent from, they don't charge unwarranted fees!

Real bad. Been traveling abroad for years on family holidays and thought I'd try goldcar. Awful experience. Flight was cancelled which resulted in goldcar just cancelling our booking as we were more than 6 hours late. Had to start again as though we'd just turned up even though I could still see our booking on the app. Also got a family sized focus estate that had large scratch down side and no cruise control. NEVER AGAIN.

the worse of the worse, no service high costs, a complete rip off with more than 200$ paid for 2 days of a FIAT 500. I will never touch this company anymore. everything is ultra expensive and no service whatsoever, their service people are just there to sell insurance which is more expensive than the car

Good cheap rental car, service was excellent.
I don't usually leave reviews but felt Goldcar deserved some praise based on my experience.

Do yourself the favor a find a renting company that takes care of its clients

arnaque!!! a eviter absolument...

My second gripe was the fact that when we returned the car dirty, we were told it would cost no more than 40 Euros by the men who accepted the car back in the garage. We accepted this as the car did need a full clean but just to be sure, we then checked with the Goldcar desk. They advised no more than 60 euros.

Une anarnaque complète à éviter!!! Ils veulent à tout prix se faire de l'argent sur l'assurance qu'ils proposent. On doit faire soi-même le tour de la voiture et vu qu'on est pas des pros on oublie des choses et au retour ils regardent la moindre chose même le bas de caisse et facturent sans vergogne!!! Des escrocs!

I returned home to find 150 EUROS had been debited and when I contacted Goldcar I was informed 150 Euros was correct. It seems that even though they have had considerable bad press in the past 12 months, they are still scamming customers out of money.

Première fois que je loue une voiture avec cette agence. Ca c'est très bien passé . Sur le site internet il est mentionné un système de navette pour aller jusqu'au bureau de location hors aeroport , mais depuis 2 semaines ils ont maintenant un bureau avec les autres loueurs au terminal 2 au car rental centre . Donc très pratique . Des tarifs incroyables a partir de 9€ pour 24h. Accueil très sympathique d'Arnaud au comptoir . Il vous emmène vérifier la voiture . Petite Fiat 500 état impeccable . Il m'a même installé ma valise très encombrante en baissant les sièges arrières . Seul point négatif la caution très élevée bloquée 1100€!!!!

You are probably Reading through the reviews to find out why the rating is so poor.

We were forced into taking their insurance as I was unable to produce a deposit of 2,400 euros. I was already insured, plus my friend who arranged the car had taken the insurance as well from the broker. This resulted in being TRIPLE covered. From an insurance claims point of view, I believe this could leave a tricky situation where each insurer refuses to pay on the ground of the other insurances being in place.

Go somewhere else for you car hire even it is slightly more expensive.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I booked before coming across the awful google reviews and so was on my guard when I got to the reception (which is located with all the other rental car companies near the car parks close by). I was pleasantly surprised with the service, agent was helpful and spoke good English. I was given a larger car as they had no class d's left, there were no extra payments due for this. I was offered the full insurance (which would have cost more than the rental for 7 days) but politely turned it down and was not given a hard sell. Had to put 1400 euros as deposit on credit card but this never came out of my account. I asked about the fuel charge other reviewers had mentioned but was told it did not apply due to the options I'd chosen on booking it.
Used a 5 euro car wash and gave it a 1 euro vacuum inside and returned it fully fueled and had no problems at all when returning. My daughter left her tablet in the car somehow meaning me running back from the security desk. They had it at the goldcar reception and I got it back efficiently.
Overall, very impressed, hopefully they are showing signs of getting their act together after the bad reviews. Would recommend.

The service is awful. I have been charged with a speeding ticket outside the time of my rental...
furthermore, they cannot be contacted properly for some reason.
